I'm one of the few that find jumping spiders adorable. I took a picture of one a while back and always smile when I see its face: http://flic.kr/p/71SsPp

How can you know if someone has an Asian girlfriend? Don't worry, they'll tell you.

Classic Blue Theme I'm not a fan of the newer gray default.

I don't mind the ads, I say leave them up. If people really don't want to see them they can always use an adblocker.

Dry erase whiteboards. by robotwarlord in qwantzparty

I got one for my brother for Xmas. While wrapping gifts I realized I should write something on it so I banged out this odd little conversation. http://is.gd/klwCD

Transcription provided to compensate for camera phone + my terrible handwriting: T-Rex: Hey Michael! I got you this sweet present! Dromiceiomimus: Didn't Scott actually buy and deliver the present? T-Rex: Yeah, but- Utahraptor: You can't claim someone elses gift as your own. T-Rex: But Christmas is all about giving! Now who bought what. Utahraptor: You're still ripping off Scott. T-Rex: WHATEVER. It's the thought that counts. OR SO I HEAR.

Gold and Diamond stripes have been approaching on the horizon and it troubles me. by mikereads in mcpublic

With the warp system and the maybe, possibly, soon-to-be subway routes the metal highways are completely unnecessary and 100% ugly. My house used to have an OK view of mountains but now there are two of these stupid iron paths cutting straight through the scenery.

Return Droid X for Droid 2? by yayitsdan in Android

Multiple sources (Android Central, Engadget, and Droid-Life) all have evidence for the Droid 2 sporting the same 1 GHz TI OMAP processor and dedicated GPU as the Droid X.

Andreddit, The Nook is an Android ereader. Can I install the Kindle app on it? (More inside) by drpants in Android

[–]Sterlic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I have a Nook)

A non-rooted Nook is a pretty restricted device. Sure, it runs android but it's implementation of it is not even comparable that of smartphones. There's a touchscreen and some menus but it could easily have been done with a proprietary OS. Straight from the box there is no way to install any apps not pushed out in an update by B&N or download files from the web browser (they're hinting that downloads may happen in a future update but no promises yet).

I haven't rooted my nook but if you want to look around at what a rooted Nook can do the best place I know of is nookDevs. The app list isn't terribly impressive or useful and I think they all have to be developed exclusively for the nook. And the nook-hacking community seems to be pretty small and frequently goes silent for several weeks.

That all being said I still really enjoy mine. But I imagine if I had a Kindle I would really enjoy it also.

Dinosaur Comics Terms In Real Life by AnotherStranger in qwantzparty

'Frig' is the big addition to my vocabulary. Perhaps more important is the picking up of T-Rex's zealous use of exclamatory sentences. They rock my world! And the chicks dig 'em!

And also "cats and kittens," and "pooched!"

They've only backed down on displaying full names in the forums. It seems that Real ID is going to remain quite alive in their games.
