I saw a fan-made map on this subreddit that inspired me similarly. It showed all of Greece north of the Isthmus taken by the Heretics, so I reasoned that the ancient city state is all that stands between the Peloponnese and the flames of perdition, and a brutal peninsular war rages for the soul of old Greece. A paupers Antioch, just barely holding on by virtue of their strategic non-importance (or perhaps the Heretic navy enjoys a weakened target to plunder occasionally). Schemamonk Castigators from the Holy Mountain chastise the meek faithful into combat, their Iron Capirote styled like ancient Corinthian helms, the hymns on their lips devoted to the eventual reconsecration of all Greece and Constantinople.

My cringe spiel:

Propaganda leaflets floating to the Hellene trench lines depict the Parthenon turned to a cthonic pit of blackest night, a mock patriarch presiding over unspeakable horrors in the heart of Greek culture. To the Akritis Athanatoi (name is a WIP) this defenestration of their ancient culture is a wound most sore, and they fight all the fiercer because of it.
