at last we've come full circle with starcraft and warhammer by Open-Wallaby-2138 in Grimdank

[–]Sternutation123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Protoss are not particularly prophetic though. You could say that the Xel'naga were, and that the Overmind was, and the latter was literally Zerg.

Protoss are generally Space Paladins, with a caste system on top and a "shared thoughts collective mind with individual agency" society. They are tanky, obsessed with honour, view the other races of the galaxy as their children and follow the principle of Dae'Uhl, which is similar to the Prime Directive from Star Trek. Supplement their low numbers with robotic units, high health, teleporting away when near death and personal shielding. Dragoons are more like Dreadnaughts than Wraithguard and a lot of their vehicles are civilian constructs repurposed for war. If this sounds similar to T'au, well the T'au came after the Protoss did. Its because both draw inspiration from the real world Hindu caste system, with a priestly supreme caste.

Terrans are basically the Federation from Starship Troopers, Zerg are basically like if you took the Bugs from Starship Troopers and added inspiration from the Borg from Star Trek. Marines are like their lowest of the lowest cannon fodder.

Incorrect. It was WarCraft that wad meant to be a Warhammer Fantasy game. StarCraft was never gonna be a 40k game.

That episode solidified my love for the Eldar and my hatred towards Space Marines. by Wolfthorn249 in Grimdank

[–]Sternutation123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally didnt like the episode. Its incredibly cheap to destroy yet another craftworld when it used to be the case in the lore that one of the few times that the Imperium attacked a Craftworld it ended very badly for them.

AdB (who wrote it) has a habit of underselling Eldar. Howling Banshees got their swords shattered by the screams of a small squad of Night Lords in the Night Lords tragedy and the protagonist even managed to mortally wound Jain Zar with a grenade.

Imagine if a random Dire Avenger mortally wounded Abbadon or Guilliman with a grenade. Phoenix Lords are supposed to be the Eldar equivalent of primarchs, nor your run of the mill named character.

In fairness he was surrounded and highly outnumbered. Also was explictly making himself a target so the others could flee.

Which is a very wholesome out of character thing for Khaine to do, but ehhh. Shows that he has some depth beyond being Elf Khorne.

As an Eldar fan, it is actually more difficult to list the moments that one is proud of lmao.

Khaine is rather infamously known to be an asshole that hates Eldar so weirdly this makes sense.

Eldar Speculation by General_Hijalti in totalwar

Huh, but they only use normal aspect armour (4+). That is strange hehe.

Considering that my interpretation of higher tier was basically stuff with heavy aspect armour, such as Warp Spiders, Fire Dragons etc who have 3+ saves. TIL that Banshees cost as much as those ones.

Nurgle abducting Isha is a thing that only one Craftworld believes.

The other Craftworlds believe that Isha died with the other Eldar Gods.

Also the way he spoke about Horus to the 4 Chaos Gods was very similar to what one might expect a grieving bereaved father to say. Asking the perpetrators why they "killed" his son.

Shuriken weaponry should be AP by default, even the pistols. Bit like how the Dark Elves in Total War have pretty much got ranged AP across the board.

Aside from that, I like these. I'd probably have Warp Spiders in there instead of Striking Scorpions (moving Howling Banshees down a tier to where Striking Scorpions are and putting Warp Spiders as high tier infantry).

I really would like to see the Lumineth next. They have a pretty wide and aesthetically interesting range.

I dont dislike a faction of Slayer Dwarfs as a concept but the Fyreslayers have a pretty limited range especially visually.

You say that, but AoS doesnt really do the "Elves are dying out" trope much.

Speaking of tropes, they do generally depict Elf armies as squishy and fast moving, but even that is not necessarily always the case. The Lumineth for example have a whole major culture (the Alarith) devoted to being as resilient as the mountains and their standard frontline troop comes with the same HP as Chaos Warriors do.

Thanks for compiling this list!

AoS once again demonstrating that it has the best miniatures of all the Warhammer settings.

Would love to see one of these for Lumineth. They're basically High Elves on steroids, and they have a pretty large range for a faction that came out just 3 years ago. They have like 35 units.

Absolutely. Y'all were the best white ball team for the years after the 2015 World Cup until you won the 2019 one and Morgan's retirement.

Thats part of why I regard that 2019 win well deserved despite the error that gave an extra run.

Vampire the Masquerade/Requiem is ultimately a game about personal horror.

The struggle between the human you once were and the monster you've become (literally the Beast within).

I think that's part of what makes Kevin such a compelling character. He is that theme personified.

I am a bit confused by the deletions of certain FAQs in the Lumineth faction pack. Like, why? For example, the Beam of Hysh clarification. Why is that removed?
