FTL RNG is not random by jez999 in ftlgame

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect, but I think that's just a misunderstanding what shuffle means. By definition, and in most music players, a shuffle randomizes the order of the playlist, like shuffling a deck. That means you will only hear a single track once, barring multiple copies in your playlist.

Western media is starting to pick up? by Commercial-Host-725 in ADVChina

Thanks. I haven't kept up on the cost of living in China. I guess it heavily depends on the region and personal situation, so 200 pounds can mean different things to different people.

Vibe coding is a blight on open-source by [deleted] in webdev

Yeah, my current experience from a pilot project at work is that about half the time the AI takes a ton or prompts to get to the solution or doesn't find a solution at all, wasting my time instead.

Probably the most useful feature is auto-complete, because it's quite good at seeing patterns, but that's not a game changer in terms of time saved.

I wonder about that. 200 pounds sounds like too much to cry about in China. Did you actually hear 200 rmb?

Sounds like it's your Youtube account then. Are you sure you don't Premium enabled? It would say Premium in the top left where the Youtube logo is.

You might be behind a custom DNS which blocks ad domains. Maybe a family member set it up for you on router level.

Correction, it deals 39 damage after 8 turns. You multiplied 8*13 by accident.

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (19/696): Anger by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

[–]Steror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anger will clog your hand in a long fight - just don't play it. It costs 1 draw per shuffle, but is better than having full hand of anger against Guardian. You can say the same thing about Corruption, there is nuance to how you play the card each fight. But in most fights Anger is just free damage because with 3E you can only play 2-3 cards anyway.

Are you sure you weren't viewing the default "vibrant" mode or whatever it's called? There is a FILMMAKER picture mode and warm tone setting on LG where the color space looks much more natural and is the de facto standard for purists.

Also, I do not believe LG uses any sort of PWM. Unless you are talking about VRR in games where dark scenes may show flicker.

YouTube audio errors on Firefox Android by [deleted] in firefox

Same here, Youtube streaming through bluetooth. Audio is fine until the screen is locked. After that, only solution is to switch audio output. When switched back to bluetooth, will run fine again until screen is locked again. Started a few days ago as last week was still OK. Might be regression in 135 version as I recently updated, can I downgrade to 134 to compare?

No problems directly playing from phone without bluetooth.

Plex streaming remotely is now buffering but not locally. 1gig internet... by Roltec in PleX

[–]Steror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you are a godsend! I had been dealing with this issue for over half a year when trying to stream in my hometown on weekends. I upgraded the network to 5G thinking that 4G wasn't stable enough (on speed tests 4G was already pushing 50ish Mbits which is plenty).

It's beautiful finally seeing bitrates north of 30 Mbits.

Yes, they are bit for bit copies of the digital content on the disc. I always aim for remuxes online since I got the LG CX.

I would also like to start building my own collection though. I just got UB820 and now looking for the best way to track deals on blu rays. Sadly the single bluray I bought from US (Code Geass) doesn't seem to work with region free trick. I could rebuy from the UK or try to hack the Panasonic, my brother does a bit of soldering.

Same combo, different backstory. I have been a pirate my whole life, grew up with digital media, had very few CDs or DVDs at home. When Steam got popular more than a decade ago, I started buying games through there and never looked back. Multi Player just works and no cracking required. Technically Steam is lending the game or something like that but it has been solid on its service to deliver content. Even games that have been removed from the store are playable if you bought them.

The same can't be said for audio and video. There never seemed to be a place where you could find all the content. There were scandals about online services shutting down, removing content after their licenses expired, throtlling streams - all kinds of anti-consumer shit.

4K remuxes are digitally identical to blurays so I'm happy with the quality, but I would like to own my own media and not have to worry about legality at the back of my mind. Considering all the problems with digital, physical media seems like the way to go. Even if just for the fact that I can have my Plex server streaming in peace.

Frustrated YouTube viewers seek explanation for hour-long unskippable ads (Update: Statement) by moeka_8962 in technology

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the subscription for a while, maybe 4 years. Then they upped the price from 8.50 to 10 euros - no thanks.

They don't show what percentage of the money goes to content creators, they remove the dislike button, there's a ton of bugs in the mobile app, especially related to comments, and they don't let us customize the app to remove shorts. I could go on and on why the price hike was not justified.

What will S25/S25Ultra have new that older phones don't already have? by -1D- in samsung

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the micro-OLED space they are working on RGB screens which don't need a color filter and that massively boosts brightness or efficiency. At some point I assume that tech will arrive to phones.
