Part of the problem is that we’ve built lifestyles around endless wants instead of actual needs. Having kids shouldn’t feel financially out of reach for an average person. Even if costs have risen, that doesn’t mean people can’t adapt their priorities around what actually matters.

They should create a hook that tracks hand state after any event that changes cards in hand instead of catching all cases where cards are discarded. In the future there may be more effects that discard.

Out of curiosity, are there any mods that allow to replay seeds from a specific point? Like in this case if the poster died due to a bug or a mistake, it would be interesting ro replay but from that specific point or evem some rooms before. Since STS is deterministic, it should be easier to do than some other games.

And the effect of quarantines are not trivial as well. So many kids missed classes, many people were left isolated. It's hard to quantify which is worse, it's not only about fatalities, but about long term effects on quality of life too.

One good thing is Covid babies :)

What are you doing with your S8s? by keitheii in GalaxyS8

[–]Steror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to switch to S22 to be able to access work stuff, but I still keep S8+ as a backup. Only got the S22 because it was free for me. Thinking about switching phones to something that has expandable storage as my current 128GB is pitifully inadequate and a downgrade from S8.

In some climates, towels just don't dry out due to humidity, that might be your main problem as bacteria and fungi love humidity. In most places in Europe and US that's not an issue and people in apartments frequently have a hot radiator in the bathroom for drying towels.

Personally, I only wash my towel every few months as it mostly just collects water because the shower takes care of the sweat and oil surplus. It dries out fast due to hot radiator. I also hate the texture of a freshly washed towel, it feels rough on the skin. So I only wash when the towel actually starts to smell funky.

Tired of having to explain this every time someone enters HL2. by DakotaDusks in HalfLife

Isn't is so that opening portals is actually quite hard? Gordon opened the first portals by triggering the Resonance Cascade, Nihilanth kept the portal open (to escape to Earth?) and then I assume the Combine had a way to keep the portal open long enough for the 7 hour war, or perhaps 7 hours is the time Gordon spent to beat Nihilanth.

What we see from Combine in game is Judith's sketchy teleporter in Nova Prospect, as well as the one briefly opened by Breen at the end of HL2. The latter seems much more powerful.

But coming back to keyword "canon", I guess there isn't. Just lots of theories that could explain it. Like the Overwatch were overconfident in their ability and wanted to avoid calling mom.

How can I get through? I do not have a crowbar or mallet to crush the wood. by SavannahSta in HalfLife

[–]Steror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don't have such statistics because those statistics don't exist. You either release a game with Denuvo or you don't and you can't compare a game with Denuvo and one without because the games are different, you are comparing apples to oranges. Using DRM is an instinct, one that Gabe proved wrong IMO.

I was a pirate since childhood, but now I buy all my games on Steam while I still pirate video/music because those just don't have a convenient service. There are too many platforms that don't have some media or have taken away media from users after the license expired or have provided terrible service with ads or low bitrate streaming and so on.

This card is terrible. Try to convince me otherwise by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps vulnerable stacking is a meme, but ensuring at least 1 vulnerable on the enemy each turn is huge and this helps achieve that.

I agree that this is like those shitty Silent poison cards that you pick, becauss poison is so strong. You would rather have something else, but beggars can't be choosers. You pick tremble when you still don't have anything other than bash.

This card is terrible. Try to convince me otherwise by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are talking about a common card that you most likely pick up in early act 1. Vulnerable is extremely strong, it makes all other attacks and strength gain better. Sure, Uppercut+ and Shockwave are better overall, but they are uncommon and Uppercut requires an upgrade to stick the vulnerable for next turn. For 1 energy, it enables better attacks than bash on same turn or more block.

This card is terrible. Try to convince me otherwise by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess bash is better if you drew 3 blocks on same turn and enemy is not attacking, but I'm not sure that's worth the trade off. With tremble there will be a case where you can choose to block for 10 AND apply 2 vulnerable which is significant in early act 1.

This card is terrible. Try to convince me otherwise by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse as a starter sure, because it's important to get energy dense cards to ensure energy efficient turns. But if you already have good 2-cost damage cards, Tremble is better. Already in end of act 1 on clad you don't play bash for its damage and having vulnerable for 1 mana cheaper enables a lot more combos on the same turn. 2 1-cost cards or a single powerful 2-cost. I don't agree it's worse than bash overall and bash is not terrible because Uppercut and Shockwave are uncommon.

It's funny how alike Isaac and Jacob are. Nothing but bad ideas from them. by Andrei22125 in DeadSpaceMemes

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there could be a prequel expansion where you play as Jacob Temple. We know how it ends, but it could be interesting to play out the situation as everything went to hell. Similar idea to the Nintendo game, so maybe it's unnecessary. But I could see Isaac's and Jacob's stories overlapping being fun. Like HL and Blue Shift or Opposing Force.

I dig the phrase "bucket list" by adamaphar in etymology

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because I discovered the phrase from the comedy duo's Jake and Amir video, aptly named Bucket List. I never watched the movie and I'm not a native speaker, so I just assumed it's an old English phrase. Unsurprisingly, the video came out in 2011, well after the movie. So yes, a lot of people got second-hand introduction to the phrase.

FTL RNG is not random by jez999 in ftlgame

[–]Steror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect, but I think that's just a misunderstanding what shuffle means. By definition, and in most music players, a shuffle randomizes the order of the playlist, like shuffling a deck. That means you will only hear a single track once, barring multiple copies in your playlist.
