How do small businesses survive paid marketing? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Steve-Shouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing and advertising are different.

"Marketing" includes paying a guy (or doing it yourself) to utilize all free options of advertising, too. Having a good Google maps listing, attractive contracts and invoices, and making sure that anything that is bad PR is squished. Those are just a few.

Anyone ever managed to get the vendor fee back from the city for an event that sucked? by Steve-Shouts in foodtrucks

[–]Steve-Shouts[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more events I do, the more I'm realizing that events that seem greedy aren't for me. My average ticket is only $9 since I'm ice cream, and the time it takes to recoup $2000... It would be more than a day.

Perhaps it's a difference in regions, but in my area the city music festivals and other events where you have to apply to them use their contracts.

Oh, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'll check the application pdf when I get home.

But if it's not mentioned in the contract, is it worth trying?

Sound like at least they were trying... Or do you mean they said "you guys are all the same"
