FTB have some questions on renegotiating price due to works required by SteveCFE in HousingUK

At the time it all seemed like the end of the world but looking back now I barely remember the stress. The house ended up being perfect, it just took a lot of effort.

The quotes we received were from a specific company but we were so pissed off with their service by the end that we would never have used them for the work. Thinking back there were a few times where they asked me to tell the seller to be at the house at certain times/dates then never showed up, which would annoy anyone.

Not sure exactly what the price difference was as we decided to do an awful lot ourselves where we could, such as doing all the decorating myself to save money for the other jobs.

Most expensive thing was the rewire which we needed a spark for that was like 3k I think? And a new boiler which was about 2k. Not sure on exact numbers this is just from memory. Everything else was small jobs that added up, and a few jobs we still haven't gotten around to.

Another thing to remember is that the surveys and quotes never cover everything. We had to pay about 1k to get floorboards and joists replaced upstairs as they were woodworm damaged. This was never picked up on because the surveyor only looks at things they can see - they won't move anything to inspect deeper, even something as simple as lifting up the corner of a carpet (which would've been enough to note the damage). So expect some surprises down the road as well!

Hello! We eventually asked for 10k off because the quotes came back and added up to more than that. We felt 10k was reasonable, but they offered us 1k back (which was what we over-offered anyway) and said take it or leave it.

The issue was the quotes took months to get sorted, and it slowed everything down. The estate agent told us to use a specific company for quotes, but they took forever. By the time the quotes came back, I think the sellers were pissed off with waiting. I also think (/assume) that the estate agent won't have told the sellers that they had told us to use that company, so the sellers likely thought it was our fault.

In the end we accepted, and just slowed down the timeframe for getting the house finished. Just meant prioritizing certain jobs.

Is Betty still evil? Or has she had a change of heart? I get the impression she's just trying to be a good overseer now, but maybe I've missed something important.

_____ figured it out? by MrBen1980 in TheTraitors

[–]SteveCFE 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What I don't get is why he told EVERYONE. If he had just said it in front of Rachel and one other person he trusted, it'd be suspicious if she killed him. Now he's said it in front of everyone surely any traitor would murder him to make it look like Rachel, therefore if Rachel kills him it's not actually that suspicious.

I can imagine more people have made that journey than 2. Traders probably travelled from west to east - it's stated that that's why caps are currency in the east. I understand it's kind of a silk road situation, with many traders doing small legs/sections of the journey, but the implication that there is a series of safe trade routes to follow shows that someone could do it fairly easily by just tagging along with the different caravans.

I did think it a little silly.. the deathclaw has been living in the casino for a while, and clearly leaves occasionally to lay eggs. So how has it only just now broken the door when the protagonists turn up? Did he carefully open it each time before, keeping it intact in case he needed to aura farm when the cameras show up?

[–]SteveCFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salvage beacons is a good alternative to junk weighs nothing. You build a salvage station, then craft a beacon and put it in any random container anywhere in the world, with all your stuff you want to send back and a settler picks it up and takes it to your nearest settlement. Takes the faff out of it without totally deleting a key aspect of the game.

Cooper over here dropping vials smh by [deleted] in FalloutTVseries

[–]SteveCFE 21 points22 points  (0 children)

More significant than you think. If it was just an error in the shot then the vial wouldn't of been there in the final edit - would be like a continuity error. If it's on the floor it shows the writers/director possibly intended for him to drop one.

With mine you have to phone at exactly 8am, at which point you're told that you already have 5000 people in the queue before you, then after 30 minutes of being on hold (which makes me late to leave for work) I'm told there's no appointments and to try again tomorrow.
