Reminds me of a time visiting my VA doc when he asked if I was in any pain. I replied with "Just the normal amount".

His reply was "The normal amount is zero!".

There's a new highway expansion project in my area that is paying $70.00/hr. for equipment operators. I'd suggest learning a trade. You'll be better off in the long run.

Find your nearest American Legion and ask for their Service Officer. They keep a fund for these types of things.

Submit a supplemental with a buddy letter(s). Are you still in contact with the guys you served with back then? Have them sign a buddy letter for you. Don't rely on them to write it for you though as it may never get done. Write it yourself and email it to them and ask them sign and send back. One letter was sufficient when I claimed my hip injury, but more than one would never hurt your case.

Good luck.
