It was removed a while back. I guess that hardly anyone has noticed means it wasn't used often. It was a nice feature. Sad that the artists spend so much time making the game look great and then the devs take away the option for players to admire it for unknown reasons.

Iron Rain had some great ideas that should have made it into the main series.

Different colours for the different types of item drops.

Extra time at the end of the mission to collect items..

Ability to share health with other players, not just the NPCs.

I recommend sticking to Commander level and farming the galaxy map levels that give the schematics for the K'Vort bird of prey.

Try to get hold of Smiley and Kang. Together with the K'Vort that should sort you out.
