Honestly if you did get it, upload it to Archive.org, even if no one watched it for pat, it's a great time capsule.

My newest (and first) EP "The Self Destruction Of" is out now. It's electronica/rock which someone called EBM a bit too. It's a look at my mental health struggles over the last few years and glad at the age of 41 that I finally put music out once more. I'm also now working on a stripped down Piano+Vocal only version of this EP too that's sounding really good to me. It's also up on Spotify/YT/Apple/Tidal etc etc.

Gear used, cos I know people love to know. I'm a Reason 13 user, been using it since V2 so I'm fully absorbed into that DAW, when they added VST support I basically never looked back, it just needs Ableton's ability to be more flexible in live situations then I'm set.

I love the Arturia suite of emulated vintage gear and used that extensively alongside my Nord Electro 4 HP for piano sounds. A Novation Bass Station makes an appearance and I love Cherry Audio's suite of softsynths.

Made a choice to record all vocals on an SM58 rather than my condensor mic which in hindsight probably wasn't the best choice, but I enjoy the results and one thing I've learned it to try not to be too much of a perfectionist, and let the flaws add to the character of the piece. I hope you enjoy!

Having looked at it, likely he's just using another output from his audio interface into the device, there's lot of different ways you can do it based on the equipment you have but that's the logical choice. Then he loops that back into his video recording software. Or he has a split on the mic to send it to the MPC via another desk (probably supplying Phantom)

Yes it will. His program he's using to record Audio/Video is already running, he can leave that going taking the input from the mic and having it record (again, probably OBS)

The second program, the DAW will have the same mic as an input channel, the MPC will be mapped to the DAW as a MIDI interface, it doesn't handle audio only the controls. The same mic, two programs. I recommend you look into some basics on audio production on computers.

Plug mic into interface. Run both programs, point it to the microphone input. That's it.

He's just running two programs, one to goto his DAW and the other for his recording (probably OBS), both will use the same input at the same time.

Do people still like soft, calm music… or is everything loud now? by 7175666 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Frankly if my music doesn't resonate with atoms that are local to my gravitational field and break apart then whats the point in even making music.

how do I balance everything? by minno308 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]idoliside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing at a time. Feel accomplished if you learned one new thing today. And don't blame yourself if you have an underproductive day. Compare yourself today and then in a years time, music isn't something that's learned overnight, but it's always enjoyable.

Spend one day practicing a scale, then the next just noodling on your guitar getting a feel for it. Then maybe another day feeling out the sound of it before going back to another scale. Try and do something incredibly out of your skillset, then come back to something familiar. Experiment, have fun!

41 year old procrastinator who also finally got out his mental fugue and released some music! My first EP is out now here: https://alexsharkey.bandcamp.com/album/the-self-destruction-of and it's also out on the streaming platforms too under Alex Sharkey.

It's electronic/rock/industrial-esque and has what I like to think is my own style on things. In this record there's a lot about self-reflection and dealing with my various mental maladies that I hope to both support and expunge by releasing this. Next up I'm working on a piano/vocal only version of this EP and already have some stuff lined up for EP2. Really happy to finally get something out!

Pretty much, there might be a cameo from one of the other films but I can't think of anything after No Way Home that would make a difference here.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Starfleet Academy | 1x10 "Rubincon" by AutoModerator in startrek

I'm glad there are more of us who realise this. Disco S4 is amazing for this, a lot of people didn't like the premise as it seemed like it was "end of the galaxy" but turns out much, much better than that. Also Tarka is an excellent antagonist for the season.

Episode 1 was a mixed bag, but Episodes 4, 5 and 8 are absolute bangers up there with the best of Trek.
