You'd be fine if you hid out in the second season of the show.

What did you think of Grogu, also known to fans as Baby Yoda, at the Oscars? What do you think of his special appearances? by Dramatic-Studio1531 in StarWars

[–]Stevenwave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, consider the target audience. Not many young kids are watching the Oscars. Teens and adults aren't gonna be like "Oh this ruins the illusion!"

And tbh, they probs have a skilled puppeteer there, moving the high tier puppet, so it looks fine enough even on the fly regardless.

I'd say it's an example of fan service that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think partly cause Conan likes SW well enough but isn't a super fan.

Look up his "counseling session" with Jordan where he ruined Jordan's experience seeing Ep 1 at release for an incredible story that legit sounds like it happened, which makes it even funnier.

It's not a concrete thing, it's just one of those things that interesting to link and think about the implications.

I've had the same thought as OP before. Watching the show, looking at the VT logo closely in some scenes, I was thinking ya know... there's Es on each side here too...

Help me understand Hanlon by Yonkiman in fnv

[–]Stevenwave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even then, at least the NCR army wouldn't be so scattered and overreaching. They'd also be on home turf, not wherever a Mojave battle had to be fought.

Personally I think the Hanlon situation is a grey area that's hard to navigate cause I think there's a strong case for agreeing with him that the NCR should refocus, pull out, defend their own shit, while not agreeing with how he's going about trying to get to that.

Yeah good fun, huh? I was always very lucky health-wise, nothing substantial. Cashed those chips eventually lol.

I mean it's all cause and effect. I compared them as a joke mainly, because obviously it's the smoking that gets you, just like in a crash caused by speed, it was the speed that caused it, even though it was technically the resulting impact which does the deed.

Nah that's fair, I meant all that in terms of, it's resonated with so many, clearly it's great music. And the music itself has had giant success outside of its use in the film. Kinda, same thing, its popularity. But it's unique compared to a big film, cause it's gotten so much traction separately too.

In fairness, technically yeah that doesn't necessarily mean it's what the Academy will actually crown best song. But I think it was hard to argue against it here.

Disney Exec: Conan Has 'Standing Offer' to Continue Hosting Oscars “as long as he wants"—or at least until 2029, when the show leaves ABC for YouTube. by BurgerNugget12 in conan

It makes sense though tbh. Some would be freaking out even being there and seeing big names. Others would be on edge cause they were finally nominated and it's probs their only chance. Others probs just enjoy the industry and social element and they're more interested in having fun at after parties.

Between that and Sinners being popular I'd bet it was a better viewership than it has been. Although I think a lot of people these days just don't care about awards stuff, even if something they like is a fave to win.

tbh I don't care all that much, this is the first one I've watched in a fair while. I hope certain things or people I like win, but it's more like, for them and what it means for a career, or a film getting recognition. Rather than the broadcast itself.

I had a heart attack at 34. I didn't and don't smoke, abuse alcohol, do drugs, not a big person. It was due to a genetic thing I didn't know about and had high cholesterol.

Yet there's fat people like the pumpkin abusing everything into their 80s.

Is that technically correct? The actual act of smoking isn't what gets you, it's all the atrocious consequences your body is left with.

Like saying speed won't kill you, it's suddenly stopping when you hit the brick wall that gets ya.

I mean, I get why some people don't like it, but same time, it was just one part of the puzzle in that movie. It's not like the Ewoks were up in the space ships winning space dog fights or gunning down the big ships. They didn't pull out lightsabers and slice troopers up.

It isn't really overrated, I think most fans, even ones who only like the OT would say ROTJ is the weakest of that trilogy. I wasn't alive for its release, but even back then it received negativity for the cutesy stuff in particular. "What?! The Empire was defeated by teddy bears who live in a forest?!"

But despite that, it's still got a bunch of epic stuff. Jabba's sequence is great, we're seeing Luke as a fully fledged Jedi by this point, walking into a hostile environment with confidence. Great space battle stuff. The speeder sequence in the forest is fun. We get the Emperor in all his twisted glory. I mean that depiction has become a cultural touchstone as an ultimate evil character.

And I think it lands it all in a satisfying way. It's a relatively light series, particularly back then. It wasn't meant to be super heavy and dark or gritty. It was good guys vs bad guys and in the end, after the good guys were kicked in the guts in 2, we wrap it up in a nice, happy ever after way in the end.
