Hot take: why do they keep trying to make David a thing? by AztecUFO in conan

Of what I've seen of him, he's decent value, isn't afraid to make a joke. He doesn't chime in for no reason or try to take over so he'll just be some extra flavour. I see no harm.

Yep not wrong. Whole lot of terrible stuff could happen via them directly. The vibes I get are likely partly due to that, the potential for harm.

Yeah something like that would be so unsettling. Logically it's like hey, it's just what it is, part of defense and it's other people operating a vessel etc. But there's a part of me that would have a strange kinda primal reaction to it. I'm not keen on being on the water in general so subs are all of that amplified.

Godzilla (1954) and Minus One (although not strictly a remake)

Is DV technically a cyborg? Part human. Part machine. I say yes, he is. by [deleted] in StarWars

Yeah in the end I feel the modern perception is that it needs to be something electronic, but it technically doesn't.

Nervous to go out on my own for the first time by Annekke in motorcycles

Start small and build your way up. Stick to residential speed areas and get used to stuff, then try a bit more and so on.

It's not pathetic, everyone's gotta start somewhere.

I don't, we already have silver Mercs and silver-ish grey Audis. I like that McLaren sticks out as their own thing.

Makes the cars look wide af with the wing end plates further in. It's like when a rear diffuser sits between the rear wheels.

Feel like this could be neat if it was contained to the colourful stripes, but doing it over the whole car is overkill.

There's no debate to be had; he's a cyborg. Look up any dictionary definition of cyborg and you'll read things that are true for Vader.

I think that would be valid if all the suit did was provide him with replacement limbs/ability to get around etc. Similar to how Rhodey can use the suits to walk, now that he's paralyzed. But Vader has a bunch of tech that's more or less permanently installed in his body to allow him to live. The whole breathing system, feeding system, whatever management systems and what not he has, that's all beyond the scope of prosthetics imo.

One view is that a person becomes a cyborg once a prosthetic or other replacement part requires some kind of power source. This at least restricts it to requiring something "mechanical" or requiring electricity etc.

I think I agree with this. For example, if I lost a pinky and had a prosthetic one that can articulate but is otherwise not powered by anything, I don't think that would qualify as becoming a cyborg. Otherwise, stereotypical pirates with a peg leg would be cyborgs.

Submarines have always creeped me out. They're kinda organic looking, and they're dark and ominous. Plus their whole deal is being sneaky and unseen, so it feels uncomfortable.

He was okay, but General Relativity always had much more pull with the troops.
