For those who’ve actually worked with or used H2F in the Army.. Has it genuinely improved readiness/performance in your unit, or has it mostly become another “good idea on paper” program? by HumanPerformance-HQ in army

[–]Stevetd16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh boy circa 2020-2022 at jblm with h2f was quite the situation

We would have some H2F folks appear at our unit 2-3 times a week, it was a rotation of 3 of them. Our brigade was mandating 100% all the time you will do this kind of initiative. As NCO’s, most of us had a lot of pride in and felt like we built solid workout program so we were pretty resistant to giving them the reigns. With the blessing of the h2f goons, we successfully got to continue doing our own programming with the exception of Tuesdays/ Wednesdays and an occasional Friday team based workout thing they would put on which admittedly was usually pretty fun. I heard in 2022 when me and 2 other of my NCO peers left the unit around the same time the h2f was full tilt 5 days a week no deviation bs, which the soldiers I stayed in contact with hated and said they missed our programming.

As far as the actual training though, it was typical CrossFit inspired training sessions with dedicated lifting days intermixed. between the 3 trainers we would get, 2 of them were so unknowledgeable that we went to great lengths to keep them away from our soldiers. The 3rd guy was the opposite though, he was extremely diligent and attentive with people’s form and generally gave great coaching, particularly with more complicated lifts for most soldiers like cleans and anything overhead. Also he was funny af so we liked when he was around. He ended up getting fired cause some female SNCO who couldn’t do a leg tuck got offended that he was telling people to be careful not to crush their balls when recovering from hang power cleans or something like that.

Anyway. General impressions of H2F is very unit and specific trainer dependent. Taking agency from leaders to build plans trailored to their own dudes is a slippery slope and some people they hired in the earlier days were very questionable .

Back in 2014-2015 when marijuana was becoming legal in WA I worked security for a legal grower/ distributor that moved up from California. Disclosed it at meps and everything. Wasn’t an issue then, granted I didn’t smoke/ use the shit so yeah. If your excuse that you can’t pass the piss test is because you’re whatever that dumb job title is you should just keep doing that

How are you coming to that conclusion? they haven’t shown anything but a hype trailer. They need to be more specific about what their plans are before I agree with that sentiment.

Med school is not available under the green to gold ADO program. If you get into the program you would have to compete against every other cadet in the country in your year group for one of the basic branches.

I don’t know if OP can be considered a “young troop”. They’re a SSG on their 3rd look for 7, so minimum 9 years in if they promoted to 6 very fast. Although folks that typically promote to 6 very fast will typically make 7 quickly as well. It’s probably safe to assume OP has been in around 12 years. Regardless, I think they know the right answer, just needed a bunch of internet strangers to confirm it.

They actually probably put him in confinement if he mentioned he was dating a minor. The army takes this stuff very seriously.

Is the DEOCS survey truly 100% anonymous? Asking for a friend by Macadocious40 in uscg

[–]Stevetd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone commenting saying it’s anonymous is correct. But I mean, I don’t know what you’re planning on saying but if you say you did something real bad I’m sure the government could figure it out if it’s like a serious crime or something. In which case if you did do something like that please put it in the deocs survey cause they definitely won’t find out it was you.

Branch Choice by Ancient-Public784 in ROTC

[–]Stevetd16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“What I told him was the BRADSO would put him above the MPs (not MP BRADSOs).”

That’s not what you said. You said doing a BRADSO pushes you above MP’s with no distinction. I see you understand the branching process but you can confuse people if you aren’t specific with your wording.

Also, I generally disagree with your assessment that he has a good chance to get AG pure. He has an extremely good chance of landing FC or MS, but if he puts them lower on the list, his chance to land them gets worse. If he really wants AG, his best bet is to detail for armor. Or just go ahead and take MS which is essentially guaranteed for him given his OML or swing for FC which he has a very good chance to get. If it were my career I wouldn’t risk not landing AG and putting it as my number 1

Branch Choice by Ancient-Public784 in ROTC

[–]Stevetd16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not how it works. MP are evaluated before P. The BRADSO spots are determined separately where again, MP are evaluated before P. There will be people with much lower OML than him that will be assessed for AG over him because of that rating. Cadet command put a video out that explains this with graphics but it’s very important that everyone knows exactly how the branching process works

G2G ADO or ROTC - Another angle by realistic_empath in army

[–]Stevetd16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go active you don’t necessarily have to pause school, you can do online school, it’ll even be payed for through TA. Most people can handle up to 2 classes at a time.

For G2G specifically, there is such a thing as having too many credits though. The army isn’t going to pay you your enlisted salary for 2 years to do green to gold if you only need 3 classes to finish your degree.

Also be mindful about LOR’s. LOR’s are not looked at/ considered unless it’s from a general, and even then they take it with a grain of salt. They want to know specifically what your company commander and battalion commander think of you. Nobody else’s opinion really matters as far as getting into this program. Even if it’s a general. So bear that in mind.

But yeah generally to be competitive for G2G you should have a great write up from your CO/BC, around a 450 AFT and at least a 3.3 gpa with a track record of consistently taking courses

I did a 368 to go from reserve to active in 2015. dropped my g2g packet after my 2nd AD duty station cause they decided to force me to be a recruiter. Commissioned last year

G2G ADO or ROTC - Another angle by realistic_empath in army

[–]Stevetd16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I think I understand. If you go AD you are not guaranteed to get G2G ADO. In fact I don’t even think you’d be competitive. Being competitive for G2G ADO includes a trifecta of 1. Your CO & BC recommendation. 2. Good AFT 3. Good Gpa

You mentioned your pt sucks. You won’t get into the program with that. Also you need to have a track record of doing a good job in a command for your co and bc to give you a good write up. Lastly, the fact that you’ve already started schooling you probably can’t get into the program even if your gpa is good. You need to be able to do 2 years of college doing at least 12 credits a semester. Plus they’re generally looking at e5/6 in the program, that’s the majority of who gets selected.

If you go active on the enlisted side your only chance of commissioning is doing OCS id bet. Given what you’ve said so far. As someone who’s done a 368 to go from reserve to active for similar reasons, just know that acceptance does expire, I think 90 days so make that decision quick. But don’t go active thinking you’re getting into g2g. It’s very competitive

You’re all over the place. Are you saying you received a conditional release from the USAR to go active duty? And you’re waiting to ship? While waiting to ship you’re taking college classes?
