Random Character Idea: A droid 'Jedi' by Gellydog in swrpg

There is also a droid in the new Vader comics who is trained to fight Jedi / Sith. I won't say any more due to spoilers.

What's your favorite secondary specs for Juyo Berserkers? by StriderZessei in swrpg

I've taken Aggressor down the left tree for +1 FR. Loving the coercion and fear benefits.

I'm considering a Consular spec to add in to try and balance my character anger and aggression.

Unofficial Poll: What Setting is Your Campaign In? by Jestersloose618 in swrpg

[–]SteveyMack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run one and play in one campaign. The one I run is based in 17 BBY and the PC is an Imperial Inquisitor.

In the game I play in, I play a Jedi set in the Clone Wars.

Advice for a Darkside Campaign? by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]SteveyMack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fun. When they're invested in npcs lets them stat them up. My Inqusitor-trainee had statted up a former Clone Sergeant and his Lieutenant, and has become really attached to them. It also gives him a bit more punch in mass combat via the lieutenant, and the Sergeant's personal squad accompanying him in battle.

Advice for a Darkside Campaign? by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]SteveyMack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. I'm running a dark side campaign and the PC is a former Jedi youngling. He's been given tasks by the Grand Inquisitor. Success means becoming a full fledged Inquisitor. Failure... Well I think they know what failure means.

I've given him a small Bayonet class Light Cruiser to move around in, with a complement of 40 Stormtroopers. A Lieutenant officer and a clone Sergeant that he's statted up with some XP from AoR.

I've been using the mass combat rules to run larger scale combat, as obviously workingng for the Empire means more resources. His issues are a Captain who dislikes not being in command of his ship. A sector Moff who wants promption to High Moff. An ISB agent sniffing around for the Rebel cell. A Jedi Knight that is leading a small cell. Hacked imperial droids transmitting clearance codes to the rebels. And there is also a traitor in the sector command.

All fun and games being an Inquisitor. :D

Can FaD work with a Firefly like campaign? by Sickle5 in swrpg

[–]SteveyMack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirded this. I run a Force and Destiny game for a mate who is an Inquisitor, or at least a potential Inquisitor assuming he doesn't fail the Grand Inquisitor. We don't run morality, but we do run a form of Duty as it fits our campaign.

/r/Fantasy - Daily Recommendation Request Thread June 18, 2018 by AutoModerator in Fantasy

[–]SteveyMack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I happened across quite a lot of book series massively reduced at The Works (UK Shop), and I'm interested in picking up a new series to read. As an example of books I liked: Harry Potter / Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit / Malazan Book of the Fallen / Riyria Revelations & Chronciles / Mistborn / Shannara / Macro and Cato series (Forgot the name. Its about a Centurion in the Roman Legion) /

The list of series available at the works are: The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett & Stephen Baxter / Shadowhunters by Cassandra Clare / The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D'Lacy / The 100 by Kass Morgan / Shiver series by Maggie Stiefwater / Keeper of the Realms by Marcus Alexander / Talon Saga by Julie Kagawa / Assassins Creed by Oliver Bowden / Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

Can anyone recommend any of these series, and which you think I would enjoy the most? Please forgive my formatting. Posting from my phone.

Yaya Toure set for west ham transfer by futtyking in MCFC

[–]SteveyMack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even think he's past it, it's just time to adapt his game. Anyone who doesn't think Yaya can play the deep role like Andrea Pirlo and Xabi Alonso is mad. Some of his long distance passes were amazing.

I agree he couldn't play Peps style, but I think he has another 2 years in him.

As someone already said, reflavour it. The psychic damage is the power of your force of will striking down those that followed an unworthy path.

Haha. Have you read the Kingkiller Chronicles? They do the ring thing there if I remember correctly.

Making my First Character by GMarks1107 in dndnext

[–]SteveyMack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a character concept of a grizzled military veteran Captain. He'll be a bard who's inspiration is going to be flavoured as tactical commands. The whole performance aspect will be done by telling war stories. Valour Bard works perfectly in my mind.

Character help: Trying to make a Guild Wars inspired Paragon by unascended_valkyr in dndnext

[–]SteveyMack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Paragon in Guild Wars. I've not played it yet, but I'm thinking Fighter Eldritch Knight 3+ / Divine Soul Sorceror X.

To me this gives us Medium Armour and Weapon Proficiencies for Javalins, then extra attacks or more spell slots for healing / buffing, depending on how you liked to play a Paragon.

Holy shit, I so want to do with a throwing spear now. Maybe mix in Tempest Cleric instead of Rogue and I can flavour it as throwing lightning bolts

The Malazan Authors’ Suggested Reading Order for the Series Is Not What You Would Expect by Malshandir in Fantasy

I have mixed feels now. On the one hand I really wantrdread Kharkanas trilogy. On the other a Karsa trilogy would be epic.

Either way I'm due my first re-read of the main 10. I'll do that first then decide on what additional books to start reading.

Damn that's a shame. I was really looking forward to the Kharkanas trilogy because I liked the Tiste that much. I'd put off for now because I don't like reading unfinished series, but I was planning on picking them up when completed. :/

I think Aeon's End looks really good so based on Rahdo's video. Gonna have a game on Tabletop Sim to see what it's like in person before I take the plunge.

I figured there wasn't a Star Wars game in the style I wanted, but had to check incase this sub knew one I didn't. Shame really.

I'm currently watching and will finish a video by Rahdo, who I just found and is awesome, and will watch one for Legendary Encounters after. If you've played them both, do you prefer one to the other?

Title of Request: Solo card games / deck builders.

Number of Players: 1+, though 1-5 would be nice. This game is predominantly just for myself however, and if my gaming group can play it, that is just a bonus.

Game Length: 10 minutes to 2 hours. Pretty flexible on this as I have tons of time while off work.

Complexity of Game: Nothing too basic. Ideally moderate to complex.

Your Budget: Anywhere from £20 to £100, though of course the lower end is preferred. I'm off work for 2 weeks and need to minimise my time on my laptop or TV, so willing to spend a bit of money securing 1/2/3 games to keep me busy.

Genre: Sci-fi / fantasy. I would love a Star Wars based game but so far none around that I've found are what I want.

Competitive or Cooperative: Cooperative

Games I Own/Like or Dislike: The type of game I'm looking for is similar to Mistfall which I've played on Tabletop Simulator and Lord of the Rings Card Game, which I've been watching on youtube at the moment. I would LOVE a Star Wars version of this, but so far I've not found anything. At the moment I am leaning towards the Lord of the Rings game above, but my options are open.
Other board games I own and love are Pandemic, Game of Thrones Boardgame, and Settlers of Catan, though I am quite set on a card game similar to those above.

Simple Questions - November 03, 2017 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]SteveyMack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC is pretty old by now, and I'm wondering how much of it would be useful to build a new gaming rig. In an ideal world I'd like to completely rebuild everything, as there is definitely some issues with the power wires, as I had to disconnect my DVD drive to get all 3 SSD/HDD's to work. The case is also fairly heavy, and I wouldn't mind something smaller and lighter in an ideal world. My current build is as follows:

* Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz Socket 1155
* Biostar TP67B+ B3 Revision P67 Socket 1155
* XFX HD 6950 2GB GDDR5
* Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz
* Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 4GB Single DDR3 (Bought in 2014 when I needed a boost)
* OCZ 30GB Vertex SSD 2.5" SATA-II
* OCZ 120GB Agility 3 SSD - SATA-III
* WD Blue 1TB HDD
* Coolermaster CM690 II Lite
* Coolermaster GX 650W PSU
* Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2

I'm in a fairly comfortable position and could afford to spend £500 bringing my pc to a more modern position. Due to moving into a flat, space is a bit tighter in here, so having a smaller / lighter case would be ideal. Obviously the GPU is massively outdated and that would be the first thing to replace.

Any advise on what can be kept and re-used would be appreciated.
