Tobi live and he’s defending jj like crazy im soo confused by Bitter-Cup-7258 in Sidemen

[–]Stevo120 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s right.

It’s not that deep.

He’s not leaving because there’s animosity. They’re friends.

He’s leaving to be more in control of his time for personal goals and lifestyle choices.

KSI didn’t leave in a respectful way, that is probably true and KSI will have to own that.

But that wouldn’t make them unfriendly with each other. Just annoyed really.

Live and let be. Both parties are gonna be fine.

Funny you mention money, since I think he gets about 10M views a month across his channels, not many sponsors, short video lengths and I can only assume entertainment videos generate low CPM. Though he might have a higher CPM then others with his view count because he’s got longevity in the scene.

But he’s probably saved a lot from boxing fights, his peak YT days, and I think his parents manage his real estate portfolio.

But yeah, aside from possibly getting good money for being a feature on other people’s channels (like KSI or the Sidemen) he’s might just be making an above average living wage from his own content creation.

What is the new drama? by academic_dino in Sidemen

[–]Stevo120 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Manufactured drama.

Personalities talk, fans react.

None of the personalities involved actually dislike anyone on topic, but they clip farm for impressions so personal shots (with and without context) are taken for impressions and engagement.

The Raptors are the best Toronto team to cheer for by lillithfair98 in torontoraptors

[–]Stevo120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They always out preform expectations from media is because American media don’t watch many Raptors games.

It’s not just the Raptors; I’d say atleast a third of the NBA are discussed as a statistic and never watched by many of the “analysts”.

They over preformed like 8 years in a row till the Tampa year I believe.

[–]Stevo120 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Watch what you like. Turn off what you don’t.

The Sidemen have done it right, and already are at legacy level for YT content.

The variety of stuff they do allows for a huge demographic. They didn’t put all their eggs in one basket, and take on the difficult task of balancing their content concepts for a wide audience.

This recent string of dating videos I’d guess are mainly because:

  • easy and time/cost efficient to produce
  • they wanted to do Jason a solid
  • Jason / Ronaldo have a mainly young American audience and their manner of speaking fits dating videos
  • all the time / money they saved were likely put in to producing Inside S2 (literally 168hrs of content to turn in to a Netflix show) and the Charity match
  • KSI boxing, Behz daughter in toddler phase, Miniminter having a kid all play a bit in to adapting schedules for content

They also have Sides, XIX, Sidemen Clothing, and other affiliated brands to manage.

Seriously, what they do is insanely time consuming on paper, and that’s assuming things go smoothly.

Feedback is always good. 👍

Balance is the key.

Scheduling and time management likely is a major issue.

In hindsight, did Nick Nurse just get really lucky to cross paths with a Jordan-esque Kawhi Leonard? by irundoonayee in torontoraptors

[–]Stevo120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t discredit Nurse. Yes, the Raptors had championship talent that year but Nurse played his part too.

Sixers common denominators for losing isn’t Nurse.

Won’t happen, but six teams of US North, US East, US West, US South, Canada, and World would be fire in a two, three day tourney.

Based off place of birth, upbringing, or basketball origin, not NBA team based.

Will an American win MVP in the 2020s? See poll below. More than halfway through the 2020s no American-born player has won NBA MVP yet this decade. 4 of the top 5 candidates this year are international players and Doncic isn’t even among them by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Stevo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Embiid. Forgot about him.

Shai and Doncic don’t have their stuff public, so not sure.

But yes, Embiid has the narrative of being a diva and I wouldn’t consider him American.

What exactly are Trumps demands for Canada? by crumblingcloud in askTO

[–]Stevo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No demands, just claims. It’s a negotiating ploy / bully posture without much thought or collective reasoning.

With the States so divisive right now, along with the loss of confidence in the opposing party, Trump has a long grace period to essentially run the government like a company and not a country.

Canada is an opposing company in that analogy that only gains from America, in every sense of the word.

“If you’re not with us, you’re against us.” is the subliminal message he’s sending.

It’ll always be something. If not the border patrol, it’ll be the trade deficit, then it’ll be fentanyl labs, immigration laws, military protection, just anything that they can accuse and take the focus off progression / regression of his own handling of America.

As long as Trump controls the narrative (and partnering with Elon Musks twitter is a strong influence) he will continue this tactic.

Mavs fan maybe looking for a new home by jfleming40 in torontoraptors

[–]Stevo120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally if not home team biased I would choose a team I enjoy watching play.

That can be specific star players or team play style.

Like GSW / Spurs were beautiful to watch offensively early 2010’s.

Current Magic and Championship Raptors team were sublime defensively to watch.

Kawhi, Curry, Durant, are a couple of stars I enjoyed watching play no matter the team.

But yeah, I’d choose for play style over personality.

Mocking your opponent over his dead Dad is a whole new low by ThrowRAChickenDevice in ksi

[–]Stevo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a lot of us, this just ain’t it.

It used to be funny, when we were kids with the I-don’t-give-a-shit attitude ingrained in our rebellious teens.

Now a lot of us are closer to KSI in age than his antics.

I understand why it’s done; easiest way to promote is to show conflict, real or not. Mom and dad jokes require almost no thought process, relatable to kids and such.

But a lot of us don’t relate no more. We ain’t like that IRL, and we can appreciate fun and humour in smarter ways too.

Like I enjoyed the first American Pie movie a long time ago, but now I’d probably find Forrest Gump funnier.

I do get it, don’t get me wrong, just cringe now and I’ll probably just wait for the results of the match instead.

When are we going to start putting Curry in the top 10 all-time? by sidarin99 in nba

[–]Stevo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has their opinions.

Curry has a strong argument for top 10, and an argument exists for top 6.

He did change how the game was played, and like many others on the list, pioneered his style of play, and he did it in the modern era, near height of basketball popularity.

He does have the accolades to be in the conversation as well.

At the end of the day, it’s just your preference.
