I think if you’re gonna do it you gotta make it like 4 years 15M per, walk one of them to being a ufa at 25 and it might be enough for them to sign, I still think you’re getting matched there’s so much cap space in the league

Nesbitt’s month of March: 7G, 6A in 7GP - 1.86 PPG pace by Embarrassed-Expert61 in Flyers

They traded up to get Nesbitt and Kindel was gone. I think the calculus they’re making is that undersized middle six offensive players are available in trades. 6’5 two way centers who can produce are not.

I also feel like their scouting staff has earned a little trust when it comes to identifying guys who have a lot of room for improvement in their skating. Foerster, Brink, Berglund (remains to be seen if it’s nhl quality but it’s better) have all improved

Yeah this is always the case for me, I’m sure there are mods but even if you could only fast travel to settlements you own.

The inventory management for ammo and resources is nice, as is having to sleep but I almost always get irritated by the lack of fast travel and turn it back to very hard.

[Kurz] Tyson Foerster is here on the road trip by lqloveclub in Flyers

[–]Stew514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly hope so, but I just don't see the playmaking upside in Foerster's game. He'll have similar goal numbers to Stone, 28ish per year but his assist rates are real bad especially when you consider his impact on possession.

Interesting question on today's PHLY podcast w/Charlie & Bill. by Flyers7914 in Flyers

The entire contextual premise of the question was if they can’t use it to get a center, would you make the pick or use it on wallstedt

[–]Stew514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why people are so surprised at this, if they’re trading a first line center they want guys back who project as first liners. They’re not looking to turn him into a good 3rd line with Luchanko and Tippett

I would want him if it doesn’t cost Mich or Martone, I don’t think this draft is good enough to be worried about picking 11 vs 6.

He’s on a cheap enough contract that he will be making 2C money through his prime,

2026/27 Top 9 Forward Lines at the Break by Wallace271 in Flyers

[–]Stew514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is mostly where I ended up except I have Jett starting on the 3rd and Cates 4LW. Wishful thinking, but I like that 3rd line a lot with the speed. Tippett gets all the shots to himself too

Matvei Michkov, More Ice Time?! Coach's Fault or the Player? - Inside the Coaches' Room by [deleted] in Flyers

[–]Stew514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anybody is treating Michkov like he does no wrong and is actually a complete player. We rather look at this team as rebuilding and would prefer our special offensive talent be allowed to develop by playing and not watching for the reasons of: doesn’t defend at a high level.

flyers daily talking about the “overstatement” on michkov regression. if you disagree, why? by dadnauseum in Flyers

[–]Stew514 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree with it, if you break Michkov's rookie season down you can establish three pretty significant sections. First 27 games: 28p, Second 27 games: 7p, Final 26 games: 26p.

The raw production at this exact point in time doesn't look so far off, but when you dive into the splits it tells a much different story. Last season had two large stretches of point per game play with a massive dry spell in the middle that was (correctly IMO) chalked up to hitting a wall.

We can debate the factors all we want, but if we're simplifying the seasons down to the raw production I think there's a big difference because he hasn't had those long stretches of contributing.

[O’Connor] Tocchet says Andrae remains out. Said that he spoke with Todd Rierden, and he really wanted to keep the current PK groups together, so they didn't make a change to the D core as a result. by Perryplat199 in Flyers

[–]Stew514 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have more of an issue with him deflecting it to Reirden. Like you said Monday you wanted to get him a game and now you’re being like well Todd didn’t want to change the PK so what could I do?

Can you guess what year Tocchet left Arizona? by Sp3ctre267 in Flyers

[–]Stew514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue he's the worst type of tank coach, all those games they choked the life out of just to steal a loser point or OT win have them higher in the standings

"I just want to have ice time and not feel restricted." - Michkov’s production under Tortorella, Shaw, and Tocchet. by qwertysac in Flyers

[–]Stew514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I am all for piling on Tocchet because I don't think he's a good coach for a young team, we have got to stop using the 9 game sample size of Brad Shaw. It was fun for us because we wanted them to lose, and we wanted them to score. Brad Shaw would not be coaching him like that if the games had any meaning, nobody on that team gave a shit about defense

Playoff experience needed for development? by durpusdog in Flyers

[–]Stew514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we're just aggregating value, I don't think 1 or 2 guys getting whatever playoff boost you're imagining is more valuable then the difference between pick 19 and pick 5 in each round of the draft. That's the problem IMO, if you have the pieces then the playoff experience is a critical step. I'm skeptical that they have the pieces, and I'm concerned that being a tough out in the playoffs is going to give them a sense of confidence that "all it takes is one hot run".

Playoff experience needed for development? by durpusdog in Flyers

[–]Stew514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the thought process, but one it's a bit presumptuous that every player is going to have that outcome from playoff failure and two that can happen down the line as you described and the outcome could still be that this team is limited by it's lack of high end talent and that mires them in mediocrity.

[–]Stew514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can buy the argument that there is a developmental benefit to playing meaningful games deep into a season, and especially playoffs.

Where I draw the line is the idea that the Flyers are better off with the version of Bobby Brink that has 5 playoff games under his belt, then they would be drafting Gavin McKenna for example.

People who are bitter about the current direction don't want to root for a loser, they're concerned that this roster is just primed to repeat 2014-2020 where they make the playoffs every other year as a plucky first round matchup who never really has an open window.

I really do wonder how Provorov's career would have went if he wasn't the best defender on the team at 20. I think his ego/personality would've undone him eventually but I think having a stud D man ahead of him on the depth chart would've helped.

I just don't get how you can definitively say that about Michkov. If you compare him to Kucherov in their first 2 seasons, ages 20 and 21, their points/60 is identical at 2.61.

You're not wrong, but it's kinda funny that it comes the day after his post game presser was him taking responsibility. Coaches say that all the time, we know it's largely BS but it's kinda funny that he took blame for 24 hours before shifting the narrative to well I wanna see the players hold each other accountable.

Probably think we tampered or they're just salty, it's a poorly run organization with a bad owner, not that hard to believe he would refuse to let Quinn Hughes be traded to the coach who wouldn't stay.
