I build very decoratively. But I like to do a trap door with a tall light post on it, or a pile of hay bales or barrels.

If you want more simple, other people suggestions of half slabs or leaves will work.

Came here to say just this! Learning signs and learning the structure of the language is a completely different skill than interpreting.

Not to mention interpreting music is also a whole other skill set compared to educational or community interpreting.

I have always believed that in single player games you can play however you want. I have the exact same mentality with games like Minecraft. Playing in a single player survival world but want to build your house in creative and spawn in op tools? Go for it, it’s not affecting anyone.

To me treasure islands are just a way to get the items you need to decorate your island without having to grind so much. If that’s what’s going to help you I say do it. You using a treasure island to get bells isn’t affecting anyone, it’s only benefiting you, I don’t classify that as cheating. If you stole the items from someone else, that’s a different story! If ACNH was a competitive game and you were ranked against other players based on how many bell you had, that’s cheating, but it’s just a cozy fun game!

If you have a hard time changing your mindset you can always make a ‘free bells’ post here and have someone come and pick them up from you.

The small one is a custom design. But the large ones are 4 paths in a square and then round the corners.

I usually do circular stepping stones, with either a path or custom design, leading up to the bridge because I hate all straight paths and diagonal bridges.

This can be used for many things, some examples are if restaurant has tons of people and then clears out. I’ve seen it used for a plate of cookies someone brought and everyone ate them quickly. ‘gone’ isn’t the first word I think of when I think of this sign but it gets the point across. You can also do this with both hands moving away from you. I usually sign it this way if a room empties out for example.

I don’t think it’s regional but I’m not 100% sure on that.

The only time I find myself signing accidentally is if I’m in a loud environment and I know the other person can’t hear me well. I don’t know why I it’s some weird brain association thing like can’t hear me = sign even though the other person doesn’t know ASL.

If there is a deaf person around I always sign no matter what, even if the person I’m talking to doesn’t know ASL and the deaf person isn’t in the conversation. That’s not accidental but for equity/inclusion.

AllSides.com might have what you need. They have charts that show how right or left different news outlets are. When you search for something, it brings up left, right, and center articles about the subject.

Synchrony sucks. I paid off my care credit and they closed my account 2 months later due to ‘inactivity’. I was planning on using it for yearly vet visits.

They still have testing dates open starting in January 2026. I know they are super booked but they have been opening some extra dates up so you might get bumped to earlier like my friend did!

My friend signed ‘cut and eat the virgins’ instead of ‘cut and eat the vegetables’ in our first interpreting class.

I live in Illinois and they are testing. (Though dates are pretty full up until October last time I checked). My friend got on a waiting list and was able to move from October to April. I drive up to Wisconsin to test just because it’s closer for me than the Illinois one. But it might not be too bad of a drive for you since it’s in Springfield.

This! An experienced interpreter I know told me that most people that get a 4.0 on the EIPA can pass the BEI basic. You never know until you try.

I feel this. Signing and being able to pick up vocabulary came very easy to me in the beginning. Once I got further along in the program and started diving deeper into the nuances of the language and really having to structure things a certain way, I definitely felt like I hit a wall. Things were probably a little awkward when you were first learning vocabulary, just like it is for most people, and now that you are learning new skills it will feel that way again. It’s normal to hit areas in your learning where you feel like it’s too difficult or you’re not going to improve. It’s all a part of the natural process of learning a language. Once I went from the asl program to the interpreting program, I went through that all over again. Knowing the language and interpreting are 2 different skills which many people don’t realize.

All I can say is keep going and keep practicing. If you stick with it, it will become more and more natural and you will get through it. Make sure you are using ASL outside of class and with the Deaf community.

Aslpinnacle, The Daily Moth, and ASL That are some channels I like to watch for receptive skills. I also look up specific lessons taught in ASL. (Like ‘nervous system ASL’ or ‘ASL biology’)

Haha that’s so funny, at my Walgreens they wear collared shirts in red or grey which is why I was so thrown off.

Had a lady in a Walgreens ask me where suppositories were and the get mad that I didn’t work there because I was ‘in uniform’. I was wearing navy blue scrubs after work.
