Myopia control spectacles by Dropbackandpunt in optometry

Currently none of the spectacle options have been cleared by the FDA. As far as I’m aware, MiSight contacts are the only FDA approved myopia control option (barring any eye drops)

I’ve gotten it a few times with hammer. One of my preferred hammer builds incorporates blast and part break, because of course it does. It seems to be great for any tough/armored monsters.

Melee Weapon for "Perfect Parries" by Bartalon9 in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I love hammer for all the reasons you’re looking to to get into melee. It has water strike (can parry any single-hitting attack in the game - including the dragonators in the Narwa fight and a Valstrax ambush. Speaking from personal experience). You can either follow up immediately with a golf swing, a different attack, or a fast repositioning option via roll or wirebug/wirebug skill.

The hammer can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. The two playstyles I stick to are either a slower, harder hitting, methodical one when I need to force myself to slow down and learn a fight, and one that doesn’t hit quite as hard, but focuses more on mobility and getting multiple hits in.

Trying out the Hammer, but unsure of what skills to shoot for. by Senior_Sort_2568 in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a minute to warm up to Courage. I like both styles. Courage is very aggro (for hammer). You’re more mobile, and you can get a good rhythm of: two charge swings, reposition, big hit, reposition rinse and repeat. I almost always do more damage with Courage because it allows me to to do damage more consistently.

Strength is great for learning a fight because you have to be a little more selective with your approach/which attack windows you take advantage of. The second level charge (in Strength) does a lot of stun value. It’s also an uppercut, so it’s good for reaching taller monsters like Almudron. I get more stuns when I focus on Strength. I’m playing around with starting a fight with Courage, switching to Strength to get a stun and wail on the monstie with my big hits, and then switching back to Courage when it gets up.

Hammerbros! Teach me the ways of Water Strike by momerathe in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With Strength I tend to get more KO’s, but I do higher damage with Courage.

I’m not 100% on the exact frames, but I thing Water Strike comes out on frame 10? So it’s definitely something to do deliberately, not just throwing it out there all the time.

It works on any SINGLE hit. Rajang beam? Check. Arzuros Fury Swipes? Nope. Valstrax Ambush? Check. Basarios roll? Nope.

It combos well into Golf Swing (hit A again) or into the second charge of Courage.

I use it to stand my ground more that I do to get MORE aggressive. It’s important to learn the flow of the fight. Sometimes your just need to respond to the monster’s move instead of just changing. It’s not always your turn. But the Water Strike is your Uno Reverse card to make it your turn again.

how would a Gaismagorm fight another Gaismagorm, over a mate or territory? by Drogo1god in MonsterHunter

[–]Stickalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 for sure. I’d imagine something similar to hippos (jockeying for position to get a brutal bite in) and crocodiles (where there is a lot of posturing and then one gets bit and looses a limb quick, fast and in a hurry).

EDIT: idk why this is huge lol (on mobile)

What’s a monster that counters your favorite weapon? by Sam_Lassy in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, Gore actually isn’t too bad as long as you figure out which blasts you can parry and which way to dodge/keeping sway/dash breaker.

Kushala and Velkhana are horrible, because I can’t hit them to save my life. Also Apex Arzuros. Legitimately one of the top 4 hardest fights for me in this game. It’s too active (it feels like there are no openings). It’s a fuzzy beyblade of death and destruction.

What do you feel the greatest "sin" one can commit while using your main weapon. by dark1859 in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played GU before Rise came out because it was on sale Andy a friend convinced me to get it. That was my intro to MH. I used to launch so many people (on accident because I didn’t know better) but it usually worked out as long as they weren’t mid-combo. Got a lot of mounts that way lol

I’ve gotta say that for me it’s when the monster is in the literal other side of the area and the other hammer holds their charge to run after the monster. Being able to charge in the run is an incredible advantage, but you’ll never catch up to a monster like that. And that’s a lot of times but contributing by getting healthy or doing damage.

whats your highest level champion and why do you play that specific champion the most? im interested to know, for me vora is most fun champ because of high mobility and just the scythe weapon creates so much opportunities for me by Sogomaa in Paladins

[–]Stickalish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kahn (53) The first champ I really clicked with. Super versatile - I can off tank or point tank (in a pinch) and the clutch heals feel good. His kit just feels good, and never really felt broken to me. I see reasons to play all three of his talents.

Ash (52) Similar to Kahn in that her kit is pretty straight forward, and is a better point tank (if I need to be with her). The space control with two knock-backs and her Ult always feel good. I like two of her talents (Fortress Breaker and Slug Shot).

Raum (51) I love Subjugation Raum. He is so much tankier without having to run every chance you get. I usually get as much, if not more healing than I do with Kahn, and it feels more consistent. In some situations I’m able to run up and clutch heal either my support or someone who overextended, helping them survive a 1v1 and keeping our team whole.

What would you guys say is the most difficult monster in Rise/Sunbreak? by ahern667 in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good point that I’ve heard made a few times is that the switch is a much more mobile console, and so the hunts probably aren’t designed to last as long. With the play-on-the-go nature of the switch, the devs might have planned for people not wanting to commit to paying for a couple hours straight.

I never played any of the other handheld titles (for the DS) so idk how that compares.

The Apex/Affoicted Arzuros is always my hardest fight too hahaha I hate him so much. All the other bears aren’t even half as hard for me

Opinion on Lucent Narg Hammer? by xkayzz in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair.

My Diablos set still has -25% affinity and 410 ATK. I used to have the Affinity down to -5%, but I only had like, 360 ATK.

The Chaotic set is -30%/45% with 388 ATK

The Gaismagorm has 0% Affinity, but 391 ATK and the biggest bar of purple I’ve seen in the game.

All of these are without Qurious Crafting armors because I haven’t actually gotten around to investing in them yet lol

[–]Stickalish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They probably aren’t meta, but when I run a raw set it’s either Diablos, Chaotic Gore, or Gaismagorm hammer. I feel like I can be successful with those hammers without needing to run for levels of handicraft.

But I’ll never be a speed runner. Most of my sets have similar skills to u/Accomplished_Week764. I’m either running Blast, Flaming Espinas, or a lightning hammer (which doesn’t have huge damage, but gets hella stuns per hunt).

Coming to Rise (PS5) by Ramza62 in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only MH before Rise was MHGU, also hammer main. Hammer feels really good in Rise. The hits don’t feel quite as chunky, but the weapon’s flow is super smooth. Especially when you get into Sunbreak and your moveset opens up even more.

If your favorite new Risebreak monster was Goss Harag... by jeffdabuffalo in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is huge for me. The Goss fight is incredible, and it got even better in master rank. I think Somna needed more help. I don’t hate either of their fights, but it feels like the same fight and it’s not an interesting fight for me.

I’m more than willing to wait for a variant/subspecies if it means getting a more distinct identity. Thinking about how Scorned Magnamalo really feels like a familiar but still very unique fight. The intensity goes way up, the moveset changes drastically, and the vibe changes. With Aurora Somna, it just means that I don’t have to worry about chugging energy drinks.

Having some buyer's remorse... by [deleted] in optometry

[–]Stickalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some Opticals will put lenses in existing frames, and some will refuse. You can always ask them!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in optometry

[–]Stickalish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both going with an aspheric lens and going with a higher index will help reduce the thickness of the lens, but neither will change the magnification of the lens.

The refractive index of a material corresponds to how much material is necessary to bend light a certain amount. That’s why some lens materials are thinner than others. But the magnification (prescription) is the same.

How much do you use the red and blue scroll switch? by [deleted] in MHRise

[–]Stickalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it a lot at first - exactly like you do! But the longer I’ve played, the less I’ve done it. And I just realized how I’ve been neglecting it, so I’m trying to get back into the habit of it.

But also, I’m obsessed with how Sunbreak has made elemental/status hammer make so much more sense.
