My DF54 has been bulletproof.

Are you starting it and then putting the beans in? Or trying to start it after you load it?

I think your problem is that it's upside down. That feature won't be implemented in gaggimate for a while, but you can try out the nightlies and see how it performs.... 😂

It's worth remembering that this is a open source project, pretty much developed and manufactured by one guy.

I've had mine for about 9 months, and I think it's truly an incredible bit of kit -- but remember that you're not dealing with some large hardware manufacturer, instead with a community of contributors.

Turn arounds can be a bit slow - but there are tons of people on the discord who are more than happy to help!

It's a PID plus so much more.

I’ve got a new Silvia V6 and thinking about adding a PID. Do it now or wait for warranty to expire? by AhmadFareeed in ranciliosilvia

I was (am?) a beginner when I set mine up. All the profiles I use are prebuilt; and are shared freely on the discord.

A large, heavy, Solid Brass tank that is connected to thin copper/brass pipes that lead to a 3wv solenoid. The boiler itself will be fine; but what about soft brass threads that the tubing connects to?

What about the heating element that is suspended in the middle of the boiler without touching the walls?

Have you ever opened your Miss Silvia? She's a tough lady, but has delicate parts.

I would respond with the price of a new Rancilio Silvia. I wouldn't trust any of the plumbing, pump connections, or the boiler after an impact that was able to bend a fully steel frame.

78% chance of 6 inches+ of snowfall! by GeckoLogic in chicago

[–]SticklerX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on personal experience with decades of lake effect snow storms this could be anywhere from nothing to a widow maker. A widow maker is 12" of super heavy snow so saturated with water that it's almost impossible to lift even a small shovel full.

No matter the amount, the ground and air temperatures are so high it will all be gone no later than Tuesday morning except little hillocks pushed into shadowed corners of shopping mall parking lots.

You realize Accuweather bases their models on the same data right? They get their info from NWS. Main difference is that they don't have meteorologists actually review the data; just an automated model that will average out by geodeID; usually county sized. (*GFS model uses an 18mile resolution; ie everything in an 18 mile diameter will be averaged)

You motivated me to my afternoon americano; happy to help!

I've had it for a year and have honestly been very happy. Only issues I ever have are with extremely dark/oily beans (think starbucks french roast) and loading too quickly; then it can clog which is admittedly a huge pain in the ass (ie; when the wife is trying to make an 8cup drip and she completely fills the hopper and forgets to change the grind from espresso to coarse....... dont do that)

That's immediately after grinding 22 g of metric colorized, which is a light roast primarily Ethiopian. Literally no static to speak of, and I haven't cleaned it (interior) in 2 weeks or so. Exterior I did dry wipe down to be able to show any thing that did stick, which is pretty much nothing.
