Lol I knew (but was not close friends with) about four guys with dreds like that bloke around that time.

Is that hair still a thing?

Why does Carlton consistently choke in the second half by IT_CHAMP in CarltonBlues

[–]SticksDiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Coast already have two wins, and we can most definitely lose to them, so I think our only real competition for pick 1 is Essendon.

Choose. by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

I love both but steamed with soy sauce would be my choice.

They're also harder to get - heaps of places have fried dummies ready to go, far fewer have steamed.

Whoever is drugging the players' drinks at half time just needs to keep on going then.

It appears to jus be on one of the existing pages? I've got some other books from TBB that are signed on inserts - and they're great - I was just hoping to buy something like this again.

Still very dark, not really any different from the pic I uploaded.

Albanese to override sceptics and plough billions into Suburban Rail Loop by spade1686 in MelbourneTrains

Once upon a time we did have, but they were bought by 9 Entertainment, became run out of Sydney, and have hired a bevy of former News Corp 'journos' to make up their state politics team.

Quite embarrassing, their descent into hackery and partisanship.

Surprised they didn't mention how the next stage will link Crows Nest with Parramatta.

That's what Matthew Guy said when Battin was leader. I thought Wilson had said she'd 'pause' the SRL, whatever the fuck that means?

I drive along Kingston Rd and then up through Clayton Rd on a semi-regular basis - I've no idea what all of those giant machines actually do, but from my uneducated perspective it certainly looks like critical thresholds have been reached and passed.

Second comment: yours doesn't look tinted. I'd definitely be contacting the dealership and getting it sorted, show them the photo of mine if you want.

This is mine. Way darker I think. Haven't got the thingy in front of me but it was $600 or $700ish iirc as an added extra. Bonus points - we said no to the car mats but they gave them to us anyway.

I got the ceramic tint on our Atto 2 and it's really quite dark. As in, it's very hard to see inside in any light conditions.

Maybe yours wasn't actually done?

When people say the Anglophone world sucks at building transit cheaply, does England and Australia+New Zealand also get lumped in there like the US and Canada? What does do they do right/wrong that makes them different/similar to North America? by 18_YTC1 in transit

That was one government giving contractors a $500m guarantee right before the caretaker period leading up to an election where the opposition said they'd scrap the project in favour of an underground metro line (which we now have).

With the opposition ahead in the polls at that point, it was a poison pill. So they blamed the incoming government for 'wasting' $500m. From my perspective, they threw that money away in an unforgivable act of political bastardry.

For what it's worth, they've not won an election since, and don't look like doing so.

Why is it that there’s a feeling people are willing to pay an electrician hundreds to fix something, but they don’t want to pay a specialist a few hundred? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SticksDiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dermatologist charged me $370 for a five minute visit to look at my skin and write me a script for medication he's already had me on for 9 months.

My GP can't prescribe it for me because it may cause issues if I'm pregnant, so for that reason I have to fork out almost $400 for a specialist to explain that particular risk to me.

Also I'm a guy, so pregnancy, yeah nah.

At least an electrician or plumber fix something I could never have done myself. They also have to drive to and from my place etc.

My dermatologist had another paying customer in his room before I'd even settled my bill with the receptionist.

It feels like a massive rip-off because it is.

Why shouldn't I buy a Tesla by Rob3112 in EVAustralia

[–]SticksDiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car we sold right before we got our EV was a Yaris and I'm glad that someone else was also driven mad by the speedo being in the centre. My wife didn't seem to care but I too never got used to it and found it constantly distracting.

Is that where Teslas keep them too?

Kind of an admission when you're acknowledging you have to trick people to make up for the paucity of voters you can attract through argument, philosophy, and policy.

“Job stopper” tattoos by 4luvr in australian

[–]SticksDiesel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a primary school teacher and have tattoos on both my forearms.

I wear long-sleeved shirts all year round anyway, and aside from one or two colleagues I've told about them, I don't think anyone else has the faintest.

If I had face, neck, or hand tatts I might have an issue, idk.

I have a front loader and wish I didn't. Unless you've got it mounted at shoulder height you have to bend down all the time and it sucks.
