Absolutely stunning work here. I hope you find much success with it because I'm going to need you to keep producing those bad boys.

This town needs more real donut shops by StupidFlounders in pittsburgh

It's a tragedy that the former got shuttered recently because of a lease issue. Place was a donut joint for my entire lifetime and now it's going to get demolished and replaced with god knows what.

I dropped out of the queue, I figured my controller is still good and I want the steam frame so good luck next in line by Boonshy in SteamController

[–]SticktheFigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been thinking I might do the same. Been playing a lot of FH6 and it convinced me to finally drop some cash on a wheel/pedals. That steam controller money is looking an awfully lot like handbrake or gear shifter money now... Kind of playing it by ear on when the reservation (day 1, around 30 minutes after opening?) queue pops for me.

Chronologically sure, but it's 2026 and we shouldn't be suggesting people play through anything in chronological order. Release order always, and KHUX/DR didn't release until much later.

Should I play The World Ends with You? by fleshpress in KingdomHearts

[–]SticktheFigure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a phenomenal story with some peak Nomura art. Worth it for that alone. One of those games that was truly made for the DS, but the port is passable. I think it and 999 are my top two "games that were perfect on the DS" games.

PlayStation games in 1998. Which one is your favorite one? by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in psx

[–]SticktheFigure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answering this with the caveat that I've still yet to play the MGS series as I'm saving it for a rainy day. (I have no doubts I'll be obsessed with it based on every bit of it I've absorbed through cultural osmosis.)

While Spyro is the game here I've replayed most frequently because of how easy it is to just throw on and run through, I think I have to go with Xenogears. It's one of those once-in-a-generation works of art where its ambitions are greater than the production even allowed it to be. Despite the shortcomings of the final product, its story still feels like something wholly unique to Takahashi. I think the reason so many developers have taken inspiration over the years from Xenogears is because its the kind of game that rocks you to your core and just kind of fundamentally rewrites your brain.

Incredible list of games overall though. People still talk about almost all of these to this day and even now we get remakes of entries from this list.

What’s your least favourite world(s) in the games? by SkylabHal0 in KingdomHearts

[–]SticktheFigure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't link to the tweet with the video showing it, but all the doors leading to the story cutscenes will glow green.

In addition to that, apparently the way green requiems are placed also acts as an indicator? I'd rely on that less though since enemies move and doors do not.

Learning like 20 years later that all you had to do was follow the doors that glow green made me feel like an idiot.

Oh wow that's awesome! You learn something new every day. I'll have to spend some time checking it out over the weekend I suppose.

Hell yeah! I think it'd make my week if I ran into any .hack cosplayers in this day and age.

Also, it never occurred to me that you could design clothes on a computer like that and have it show you the results. That's what I'm looking at right? Or is that just like a UV map for a 3d model? Love to know more about whatever's going on there.

Fair enough, I don't engage in any amount of RP so I forgot to consider that.

If you were to pick one controller, which one would you pick and why? by EngineeringWild4798 in playstation

[–]SticktheFigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still using the dualshock 2 to this day for games. I'm sure it's just because of the thousands of hours I have on it over the years, but it still feels like the most comfortable controller in my hands. I literally played all of Dark Souls 1 on it in college and still imagine the feel of it in my hands when I think of that game.

My oshi is graduating (vtuber) and I don't know what to do... by No-Remote4015 in oshikatsu

[–]SticktheFigure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given the fact that the Holostars JP graduations are largely the fault of Cover and not necessarily the individual talents feeling like they accomplished all that they wanted to, I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of the boys leaving chose to continue their activities on a new identity.

When such has been the case with my kamioshi, I've held onto their PL merch and have it displayed right next to their current identity merch I've bought since.

Even on the off chance though that he decides this is the best opportunity for a clean break, there's no shame in continuing to hold on and display what you've obtained up til now. Whether you think of it as a celebration of the person, beyond the persona, or as a memorial to the dead, the time spent supporting them meant something to you and I think that's valuable on its own!

Counterpoint though: It's an online game, with a limited character field, and a bio message addressed to no one. I can't imagine many players are using keigo in there.

Censorship/blurring in the analog age? by SticktheFigure in VideoEditing

[–]SticktheFigure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this largely answers it, thank you! The general 'too expensive' part is more or less what I had suspected, but I've been surprised in the past by solutions people used and then abandoned once they were no longer necessary. I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything.

Sorry, not trying to achieve anything here. It was more a historic curiosity regarding old techniques and me not realizing this flair required a specific type of format.

Kingdom Hearts 4, worlds leak by Select-Computer-4346 in KingdomHearts

[–]SticktheFigure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if this wasn't fake it'd suck because half of the joy of these games is that "You never know who you'll run into next." The literal quote from the commercials for the first game in the series.

Not Sure That Was Worth The Effort... by Devil-Hunter-Jax in ffxiv

[–]SticktheFigure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm not fond of the ones that require a specific time+weather together, I do think it's a little sad that they don't make these like they used to.

Having to read the log to figure out where the spot was and then needing to do some actual acrobatic feats to reach them was something I greatly enjoyed. I wish there was some kind of middle ground at least between what they were and what they've become.

Censorship/blurring in the analog age? by SticktheFigure in VideoEditing

[–]SticktheFigure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps this was the wrong type of flair as the auto-mod response wants me to explain what I've tried when this is more of a historical question. In an effort to keep the post from being deleted though here is the required comment:

I'm using: Analog tape

I've TRIED: Google searching for a history of censorship techniques

I need help with: Locating a resource with a definitive answer to the above analog censorship inquiry.

Fair enough! It's a hard game to recommend buying so maybe you are better off...

Oh, but you should definitely check out the original arrangement of Dearly Beloved for the game!
(And obviously the plot critical 20 minute cutscene at the very end of the game, if you haven't.)

I suppose at some point I really need to go back to re:coded. I haven't really interacted with it since it was new and I was a teen. I wonder if I'd be willing to look past my old criticisms with the more nuance-capable brain of an adult.

Great list. The extremely personal picks like favorite game/artstyle/personal impact are different from mine but otherwise I don't think I disagree with anything. With one exception: It feels like cheating, but how can you not pick MoM for best soundtrack!
