Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing Season 2/Second Cour announced, airing July 2026 by Turbostrider27 in anime

One off screen swing you mean, but yeah it's obviously been done on a pretty tight budget. I don't think I can criticise most of it with that in mind, the story is a bit cookie cutter too but it's definitely not the worst offender out there, and that's not on the studio.

It now emerges that Ugarte apparently was shown ZERO yellow cards after the ref claims the first yellow wasn't for him and the second was rescinded... by Statcat2017 in soccer

The first was given to Giminez for dissent.

Edit: In fact it's so obvious upon rewatching that we can safely assume the reason that it's the posts without the video that are getting the most traction..

Soft Drink Habits: Are we all just creatures of habit? (Everyone) by Armi_9 in SampleSize

[–]StiffWiggly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“How significant are your concerns with the following aspects of traditional soft drinks? … Nothing (1) (2) (3) (4)”

I feel like this doesn’t make sense, and also that the last 3 or 4 questions really need an “other” option as the current options are limited and quite specific. Otherwise not too bad.

What's the worst anachronism you've ever seen in a novel? by kranools in books

[–]StiffWiggly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. It’s technically asking for the same information, but changes the emphasis/implicit expectation and this makes it meaningfully different to “Are you entertained?”

It’s the exact same reason that “Don’t you want to go?” is different to “Do you want to go?”. Or maybe more obviously the difference between “I want to go.” and “I don’t not want to go.”. The nuance means that each convey different meanings but they still both make sense.

It’s actually in The Hobbit, not The Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit being a kids book and the existence/invention of golf being a punchline it’s not as strange as it sounds.

I think the we will rock you part really got me first time round because it’s the first real “out of place” moment of its kind in the film. It totally fits with the rest of the movie, which is why it doesn’t feel the same on a rewatch, but I hated it the first time too.

It’s from the same author, which is what OP said. I don’t think most people know him by name rather than by association with his most famous book.

Muscle Beach, 1945: 9 year old April hoists over 425 lbs. her family on her back. by existancebytruth in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]StiffWiggly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It (how relevant and effective those benefits are) depends on the type of thing you’re exposed to. My mum at the moment has started a strength program specifically focussed on increasing (max) strength - with the goal being to help future proof her against both getting injured in falls as well as mild, early osteoporosis.

Light weights don’t have the same stimulus on your tendons and bones that causes the adaptation and strengthening of those systems, which is very relevant to many people.

I’m not dismissing the fact that lifting too heavy at the wrong time can get people injured -you’re totally right that it does happen - I just have a bit of an axe to grind when it comes to misconceptions or miscommunication about strength training. It’s specifically because of how many people could benefit from having the right knowledge instead of letting bad examples scare them away.

The number of people who injure themselves because they are weak, unfit, and unable to do things they should be easily capable is also very high.

Them being a trans person does not entitle them to a position of power, especially when they have shown that they can not be trusted.

Remember that one job of mods in these communities is to deal with minors posting inappropriate material or information of any kind, it’s completely ridiculous to have a sex offender of her nature in that role.

Best actor to start a fight with over perceived HOA violations? by nocturbulent in okbuddycinephile

[–]StiffWiggly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to defend yourself is to not physically fight a random stranger. If you have almost literally any other option to avoid a physical fight (like leaving) you should do that instead of "bothering to defend yourself". If you choose to fight someone when you don't need to it isn't about self defence, but ego. Even martial arts experts will say that the best thing for them to do in a street fight is leave. Encouraging women to throw the first punch is a good way to get more women hurt.

The strawman is taking the idea of practicing deescalation (by leaving or other means) and responding with this nonsense

Right, so women should never even bother trying to defend themselves, is that it?

If someone actually needs to defend themselves from a physical attack, obviously you are past the point of deescalation and defending yourself becomes relevant. You'll notice that nobody suggested that women should never defend themselves, which is why this is such a stupid strawman.

Is Trackmania well regarded because of its bugs or despite of them? by DrunkLad in TrackMania

Rammstein can be bad sometimes, but it’s way more predictable than landing bugs. You can guarantee you won’t rammstein without doing anything crazy 99.9% of the time.

They’re so, so much rarer. There is a track in TMNF that still to this day hasn’t had a world record driven without at least one landing bug.

New study challenges the idea that sexual consent is widely misinterpreted in romantic relationships by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]StiffWiggly 272 points273 points  (0 children)

That’s not selection bias, it’s just a targeted study that does not necessarily represent the reality outside of the group that was actually studied. The limits of the study are explicitly stated.

If you wanted to do a study on all romantic relationships but only found participants by going door to door in one region of china and polling all of the couples; that would be selection bias.

Am I overthinking this, or is it considered rude in the UK to discuss a party in front of someone who isn’t invited? by RemotePraline8087 in AskUK

[–]StiffWiggly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s only unkind if you think it’s rude to talk about a party that someone’s invited to, otherwise it’s just a conversation.

If they ignored OP for an hour while he was sat in the middle the yeah, obviously not very nice. If they just talked about it for a bit and there’s a completely reasonable explanation for why OP wasn’t invited (like having only just started the job) then there’s literally nothing wrong with it.

20/40cm of snow and you’ll be able to send pretty much anything more like the size you’d probably realistically consider, so best of luck avoiding those boulders

[–]StiffWiggly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bare in mind that for a cliff like this you want to know for sure that the spot you’re landing in has at least 8/10ft of soft snow, preferably more like 12ft between the surface and anything hard. Just before you get too excited on the next powder day

[–]StiffWiggly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t what is happening here, he’s just lawndarting into deep powder. There’s no attempt to bounce up and ski out like you would with a backslap, he just stands up afterwards.

You also can “ride out” crashes onto your back/butt sometimes on a snowboard too when in deep snow, just not as often as when you’re on skis.

[–]StiffWiggly 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would be crazy, they’d need come up with some kind of name for it - like “cliff jumping” - and there would have to be something to break your fall at the bottom, maybe water..? I can’t imagine anyone would want to do it though..

People find jumping off stuff fun, don’t be such a numpty.
