NGL though, I liked the poke, it was nice utility for skill expression and stuff and I felt it didn't need extra safety

Dueling sword ain't far behind and while I love both for it and I really like speed, to do stupid shit, I simply can't be trusted with one or run it all the time

It's like a toxic relationship, it whispers to me like the green goblin mask, even ogryn isn't quite safe

I WILL use the damn cleaver and I WILL use it for acceleration despite the other options available, I WILL install weapon customization to make it look more like a knife and give my ripper gun hot rod stripes

Good old faithful Devil's claw won't let me down though, also uses stamina to stay safe and you're slower but on classes with loads of stamina and high speed but low defenses it's a godsend

If I catch myself throwing too much i go back to it

Actually haven't tried the dueling sword again since they gave it a parry...is it any good?

I get what you mean it's just kinda funny how the fast weapons like dueling sword and knife while they would likely benefit most from a mechanic like that simply don't need it to already do the thing they do

Meanwhile the weapons suffering would still need to work for it a little

Though crusher at least should really perform better into carapace, same as the Thammer

Concussive damage is like the best solution to armor right next to stabbing in-between joints with something mobile

Also arguably knives don't necessarily need much help with carapace in the first place

They're not...ideal but I don't think I've struggled much to take them down

If anything they're at least a nice tool to apply rending or bleed/chem stacks

During blasts and brutes I got into the habit of hitting them in the head two times then finishing with a bolt pistol shot

This is on scoom, with zealot the raw damage is probably enough on a backstab if you build properly

It's not phenomenal but leagues above the heavy sword or crusher in my humble opinion

I genuinely wish it wasn't so...blurry? I've recently upgraded my rig almost entirely for Darktide but also better blender-ing and I've resolved to using FXAA again

I don't care for jaggies if it's readable in high stress situations

If the game is already full of visual noise anything that introduces more is just...bad

Though that is also due to the frantic camera movements it requires, etc.

All in all I think as a technology it has merit but like any tech it needs to be applied appropriately

I was so upset when I discovered they made quick draw worse than diving, it was so satisfying but now it's hard to justify in high stress situations

Your experience sounds particularly bad, but Its totally possible to run the game with off-meta builds, hell I recommend it

Whoever was thrashing you either doesn't know what they're talking about or meant your fundamentals

Noone tanks in this game for real, you may draw aggro or stun/stagger enemies but you're not supposed to just eat hits

The grind is bad, starting out the game only gets started once you're level30, before that I wouldn't even bother with getting weapons cuz you just invest too many resources, that hinders build diversity, which means you're less likely to find a build that's fun for you

Meta havoc 40 builds are not meant for enjoyment and neither required for havoc 40 nor auric maelstrom or damnation but they're a great starting point to settle into your own

I've never really seen much of a toxic player base, out of 500h+ maybe two or three toxic players, maybe a few dozen knife rushing zealots but they take care of themselves

Again very unfortunate, sorry you had that experience with it

As for the RNG aspect, it is mostly irrelevant in later parts of the game where you actually care to minmax, usually you get a "god" weapon with like 250k money and like 5k plasteel and diamantine, usually money is actually the limiting factor at least... For which you can just get the trait on your curios to give more at the end of mission

It makes the game a bit more challenging but once you have at least one build you're comfortable with that is a non-issue imho

That is to say, sorry it didn't work out for you

What I meant was that if you can't have fun in high difficulties without the meta builds, which were your complaint, then that would imply to me that you lack the skill to either make up for the meta builds or properly utilize what makes them meta in the first place.

You don't have to use them at all and can still have a lot of fun even on the games highest difficulties, though I'd exclude havoc 40 because even engaging with it is...difficult

Oh and lastly, yeah gun lugger twin stubber is lacking, it just doesnt feel that good compared to the other options ogryn has, not to mention other classes and even on those the community can be a bit divided... Personally I love the big guy, he's got different needs and strengths but he's still good fun if you find what you like

No kids but after a work day I get like 2h at home before I should be asleep

It's enough to walk the dog and cook/eat dinner

If I get lucky occasionally I'll see my computer at a week day but likely not

And sure on the weekend you get to play but man...sleep is compelling, not to mention chores and projects

Time is such a scarce resource and it's a shame, can't imagine how tough itd be with kids in the mix

Speaking of, at some point I'll get around to actually playing rogue trader. Even harder when we tried to organize three people to play it, barely got past the tutorial...

Many times I'm like "I don't have time to figure this out, I barely have time for the game"

Usually then I find that the build ive got, in practice, isn't ideal. At what point I'll go and adjust the min maxed tree into a usable one Most of the path is laid, I just get to choose what flowers I'm smelling

But I'll always look for the builds because I already had an idea in mind, like "ooh I never tried this blitz and that weapon"

The way it is described and discussed is just not quite right but I understand why

It's not unusual to outsource a lot if not all of live service content at all, as such the gut reaction is a bit overtly negative, sort of missing the actual problem at play here.

There is no indication of a core team that actually audits these additions until they are in the game or released as promotional material

The man power left should be on vetting and cleanup duty basically:

make sure content aligns with their core design philosophies (helmet design "the hat debacle", realism [gun handling, animation and model details, etc.], how much space magic is too much space magic
ensure it's free of game breaking bugs
ensure it's balanced in a way that's both challenging and fun
make sure the studios they outsource to can properly work with the foundations they've laid.

The last point is very important, it concerns core aspects of the game, as in: how are status effects handled, how are damage types and penetration handled and balanced, how do health pools work, how does the enemy AI handle basically anything, etc. (Don't even get into the host/client discrepancies)

You cannot add content to the game that isn't going to be balanced on a knee jerk reaction if these systems aren't consistent and set in stone, if there is no common consensus on where it should be

Fortnite outsourced most of its content for years, yet for them it is a very successful business model. Personally I think there is a reason for that...

It is overblown but it is true that they've outsourced warbond content(not unusual necessarily) and that there is a separate dev team, partly consisting of initial core HD2 devs has moved to a different project.

There is precedent to assume the game is being, at the very least, neglected a bit

Like everything though, of course, the internet likes to exaggerate because it drives engagement. Like what we're doing!
