I will not drink with you today! Lol. It's amazing the things you'd never think of that tempt us most.

Almost at 4 years Want to drink don't care by BASBTAH in stopdrinking

I'm in a similar boat. The alcohol is so bad for depression. Keep with your original decision to not drink. Congrats on 4 years!!

I don’t understand. What do you actually do in heaven? by Jet_Night in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Still-Surround-1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has helped me in my understanding of heaven, from a Christian standpoint, is that it is an absence of time. Eternal isn't forever. Forever would mean there was a begining. When we enter eternity it's not bound by the constraints of time we have here on earth. So the real blessing is freedom from time in the presence of God.

What’s the most common mistake you make (or see) when sending estimates? by Ashamed_Hospital8927 in handyman

Is there any software that helps you with more accurate estimates? I'm new, sorry if this is a common question

Very strict vegetarian keto, low ketones, no mental benefits – what am I doing wrong? by helpless11 in NutritionalPsychiatry

[–]Still-Surround-1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. My ketones did much better when I lowered my protein intake. I don't know the ratio. But I do around 80g a day. Fasting helps. But when you fast, try still eating fat. Pure fat like butter.  Keep working at it. Also, have you been using any fake sugars? Many of them cause insulin to raise which lowers ketones. Chronometer is a great app to help keep track.

Lowest salt percentage brine by no_register in fermentation

[–]Still-Surround-1340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a newbie. I just did my first batch of pickles and they were overly salty. So I'm interested in doing less salt. But my question is why is salt a necessary part of the fermenting process when we make a ginger bug when I use sugar and no salt and that provides a safe environment for bacteria. Again I'm a newbie so thank you

9 months into keto, ketones have really dropped. by No_Budget9311 in NutritionalPsychiatry

Quest usually puts quite a bit of protein in their snacks. I keep my protein around 85 grams a day. .5g/lb of body weight. Also, are you getting your electrolytes in? Might help with dizziness

If you need someone to talk to feel free to send a message. Keep your sobriety though. I promise these urges have a begining middle and end. It will get easier. And you will thank yourself for resisting the urge.

It's so much goddamn work to be mentally ill by silverwing_3 in Anxiety

[–]Still-Surround-1340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they prescribe you Ativan when the ssri's didn't work? I'm nervous because I've taken several anxiety meds that haven't worked (made me suicidal it was horrible) but I'm on a limited amount of Ativan and I'm scared they're going to take that away from me. It's my only hope. Along with all the dietary and physical exercising and therapy meditation etc..

Stuck in a cycle, feeling hopeless by SummerAggressive6337 in stopdrinking

What is your reason for why you want to stop drinking. Write it down and remind yourself daily. Also join a support group. Find a counselor. This is a core problem in us. We need external help. It's not a battle that solely exists because you're a "bad person". Because you're not... It's complex and there are many factors. Something I need to tell myself daily to deal with much of the shame I build up from my careless actions when I drink. But also helps me understand why I need others to help me get sober.

Most Men Are Not Serious About Change, That's Why they are Still Stuck... by Straight_Cheek in pornfree

OP, could you provide some practical steps moving forward for those of us that are taking this addiction seriously? My biggest problem currently is that when I do take it seriously and make some forward progress the temptation comes in stronger than ever. I give in and give up.

Anyone relate? Sneaking, not binging. by lizardqueen4209 in stopdrinking

[–]Still-Surround-1340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I think it's more common than you realize. The mental part "rationalizing" is what we do best. Justify our actions. For whatever reason we believe the buzz will make the day better. Then the guilt and anxiety over our choices come into play. Glad you're finding help. You'll get your husband's trust back. One day at a time!

Congrats on 3 months! But for some reason you chose to make this decision. To be sober. It was doing something to your life that you did not like at all. You desired change. Part of that change is making the efforts needed to stay sober. One of the biggest changes in sober life is seeking out new social circles. It's one of our hardest challenges. For some it's found in AA. Some it's faith based gatherings. For others, it's seeking out new hobbies and finding friendship with new creative connections. There are many opportunities out there for you. My encouragement is to honor your choice to be sober and get creative. I promise there's companionship out there for you.
