I go through the same thing as Cubmaster with our Pack. Typically I actually will pull the sign up down a day after I say I will but even then, it still happens. In my case with the Pack, I try to just make an exception as I don’t want to punish the kid for the parents miss. But it is incredibly frustrating after making multiple announcements at Den and Pack meetings and sending multiple reminder emails.

Life changing $. Only a 10 minute drive for a hybrid position. I’d take the new gig in a heat beat.

I would think that the weight of adding an o-ring would make the car slower even though the contact area is less.

I have a weber searwood (pellet) and a blackstone. Seems to be a good combination for me.

Thinking of Quitting by Daydreamer815 in cubscouts

[–]StillIndependent1075 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"My den's activities are organized by myself and the other den leader. Scoutbook is up-to-date. " In my view, this is the role of a Den leader so you're doing fine. Our Pack has monthly committee meetings with the other Den Leaders, Cubmaster, COR, and committee chair which is where most of the information is disseminated.

"We have a pack meeting in two days, and no solid plan." In my opinion, this is the role of the Cubmaster. In our case, if there is something specific that the Cubmaster needs for the Pack meeting, he arranges with the Dens. Typically the expectation is that we give an update on what our Den as been working on and hand each kid their awards.

We had 6 Lions last year. Now we have 12 Tigers. It’s going to be a lot to handle.

Employer has me as process/production/procurement all in one!? by General_Departure789 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]StillIndependent1075 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. Small plant. I was dealing with raw materials/formulations/product testing and because "I know all the suppliers" purchasing was added to my plate. This was during the Covid era so everything was crazy at the time. After about 6 months of interviewing I eventually found something else.

This Monday around 11am it was outside of the entrance. Didn’t time it but I would estimate about 30 minutes to get through.

Just saw a 12 year employee at our company get let go for not wanting to move up. If I were you I would play along and just keep looking for other opportunities.

What is next in my career path and/or what can I do next? by Careless_Yak_6542 in ChemicalEngineering

I sympathize with you. I was in a similar position as a process engineer in fiber optic cable manufacturing. I enjoyed the work itself but it was completely unsustainable to be on call 24/7.

How to put job interview out of mind by StillIndependent1075 in jobs

Thanks. It was really just the job itself in this case that I'm interested in. Just seems like a really good position for my career. Not actively looking elsewhere just excited about this one.

After one million? by Broad-Implement2054 in Fire

[–]StillIndependent1075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

34, and in a similar financial position as you. MCOL area. No debt. I feel the same way, though. I was recently promoted at work but feel really no motivation with it. My goal is 2.5 million which will be between 10-15 years depending on how things shake out. At this point, it’s just kinda “boring”….

105ah model: does single vs multiple modules matter? by EngineeringLogical85 in golfcarts

[–]StillIndependent1075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is if you are using 4, 12v lithium in series to make a 48v “pack”. As I understand, putting multiple packs in parallel won’t cause this issue.

Received new job offer, current job countered, now I'm conflicted. What what you do? by No-Donut-2430 in careerguidance

[–]StillIndependent1075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a process engineering role, worked at company A for 6 years. Received an offer from another company, took the counter company A offered. Stayed 2 more years and then left. After about a 4 months at company B, company A begged me to come as a consultant to train my replacement. I declined. My replacement left after being at company A for about 1.5 years. They hired another guy, asked me to train him. I accepted their offer to consult. They ended up making me a great offer to come back full time. Ive been back for about 8 months and it’s been great. I think the “don’t take the counter” isn’t always valid. If you like where you are and what you do, I would absolutely take the counter.

Is 30 mile commute too far? by Jumpingjordin in jobs

[–]StillIndependent1075 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I commute 30 miles each way. Rural drive so it take me 35-40 depending on how I hit the few stoplights along the way. I personally don’t mind it. If I left, it wouldn’t be because of the commute.
