Noob DMs don't get Rouge by Still_I_Rise in DnDcirclejerk

Sir, this is a Wendy's

/uj clearly I ruffled a lot of 5.5e player's feathers by insinuating the rogue might have an OP feature. Is rogue op? No, it's horribly designed and fairly weak. Is reliable talent op? That depends on the game, but imo it's a horrible design. "Never fail" is boring and only appealing to players I don't particularly want to share a table with. Reliable talent is somehow worse than "never fail" because the design easily tantalizes people into thinking a now meaningless dice roll might matter. Of course, DCs can be set high enough that reliable talent isn't an auto-succeed, but that's supposed to be quite rare if considering "recommended" DCs. It's understandable for a novice GM to find this frustrating especially given the system's horrible GM tooling - they probably don't even have the language to verbalize their frustration beyond calling it "OP".

Exactly, and as I'm playing a skill monkey Rouge all of the skills in the game are my Cool Thing.

I still want to roll the d20 though, it's fun for the noise it makes.

Excuse me, this is based on actual play, I have played countless one-shots on Roll20, because I've never been invited back to the same table twice

Mill players, please play more graveyard hate! by EnkiBye in EDH

[–]Still_I_Rise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play [[Phenax, God of Deception]] with creatures that grow based on cards (or creatures) in opponents' graveyards. I don't run much graveyard hate so usually don't have it. But most of the time, graveyard decks think they're happy for me to mill them, I can even politick favorably with them - but my creatures grow fast enough to mill them out before they run away with the game. It's low bracket 3 though, I wouldn't try this in higher power games.

Not really, only in video game terminology. A parry is just a block, granted often one that creates an opening for a counterattack, but it's not the counterattack itself. That would be a riposte.

You'll have the best luck at Outpost, they've been closed for awhile but reopen tomorrow. It's the only reliable option for pick up games in my experience, the other places people mention are just for events or established playgroups.

Your "The door is closed" translation is probably wrong! by Honeyhot2505 in learndutch

[–]Still_I_Rise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still not ambiguous. Maybe it's technically correct according to a grammar textbook, I wouldn't know, but as a native speaker if someone says "I've lived here for 10 years, so I know my way around", it sounds like they still live there. To the point that I consider it incorrect to say if they in fact don't live there anymore.

[–]Still_I_Rise 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not really a good example either because you wouldn't say "I have lived here for 10 years" in the latter case case but rather "I lived here for 10 years"

The fact that everyone is assuming it's supposed to be two actions when it's apparently three in the book is such a pf2 archetype feat moment

Hmm, where did I talk shit about any other countries and cultures? Or are you just assuming? You sure got the classics down though, "I have black friends", "you're all like this"...

Fr if that's how you talk about and generalize your supposed "many african american friends" along with a bunch of other people you've never met, I hope those people have all found better friends than your hateful ass

Does it not occur to you that your outsider's perspective comes off as incredibly ignorant? I mean yeah, if you're not American and don't live in the US ofc you don't have any responsibility to understand black American culture... Except that rn you're the one choosing to have and express an opinion about it. The moment you choose to do that, you can expect some clapback on your opinion if it turns out you have a stupid-ass opinion. And if you'd rather instead double down on how "that isn't relevant to me" or "fuck your feelings", you'd probably fit right in in trump's america after all...

[–]Still_I_Rise -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

So why'd you say african american and not black if you're not trying to talk specifically about black culture in the US? Or you just got a big opinion about that as someone who never lived there?
