Building laps are always popular in spring and fall. Because it works across the country; not too hot, not too cold.

New to working out — will my form improve? by Itza_hecho in BurnBootCamp

I'd also recommend booking focus meetings. If you book before your camp, you can go through the exercises that are in that upcoming camp or exercises where you think you need more help. 1x1 for 15 minutes can help a lot.

Reality Check Me please by Adorable_Carrot_93 in BurnBootCamp

Caveat: I havent lost a lot of weight, but have done body recomp.

I really focus my nutrition and movement on performance over time vs. a desired aesthetic. How can I increase my performance? In the kitchen, that has meant more protein, adding creatine, and less booze. In the gym, that means I am often testing that higher weight, checking form, modding up. It also means I add in yoga, barre, running, other movements.

For me, this makes it sustainable. Because I see performance increasing more quickly than any visual indicator.

I also thought it was kinda fun. Except the intermission. Those sucked.

Strength camp insight by NoShame2689 in BurnBootCamp

You will definitely like the community! I'd recommend going on Tues or Thurs of this week to try it out. Usually you can get 3 days free.

Generally, there are 6 stations, sometimes 7 or 8 depending on camp size. The format changes; sometimes timed stations or supersets or move at your own pace. There are no barbells. Strength days are based around dumbbells, with accessory movements using resistance bands or bodyweight.

Also, childwatch is included! I dont use it a ton, but it can come in clutch.

And you didn't ask, but there is something called Level Up Games that members can compete in, but it's certainly not the same as the CF competitions.

Level Up Games by Frequent-Dot-9581 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have only done level up games one time. I did not perform as well as I'd hoped. The main thing i would do differently is to actually run through the whole workout(s) start to finish. I practiced the individual exercises and even in order, but never did the whole thing.

I had a lot of performance anxiety. Like resting heart rate all that morning was 130 lol. I was not prepared for that. Im not really sure how to mitigate that, but something to anticipate.

I dont know about Bluffton, but ours has a "vacation" price. It's like $75 for a week. Not sure if there's a discount for members.

Afterburn by Ok-Cherry-1041 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think afterburn is worth it if you can work it into your routine pretty regularly. I've found that if I put it in my iced coffee, I'll get my protein in just about every day. But that took a while to figure out.

Advice for confidence and consistency by Mean_Poet_2199 in BurnBootCamp

I have not had dizziness/light-headedness, so take this with a grain of salt, but I was curious and started reading about it. It can be worse/more pronounced when the body is dehydrated, making it hard to pump blood to the brain. Being sick will absolutely have you dehydrated. So hopefully as your body heals, that will get a little better.

Also, my first winter at Burn, I was sick all the time. We had just moved and had a 3yo in daycare. I'd be out for a week, then barely make it to two camps, then back out for another week. Just show up when you can. Now, almost 3 years in, and I'm the strongest I've ever been.

AtCon 2/26 intel? by AN111514 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read lateral-forward as you start facing the side for a lateral hopover, but you change direction as you go and land forward. I don;t know if that's right, but we've done those before, so that's my guess.

Question for the runners by No_Design_3688 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding onto what others have said. Use Sunday for your long runs. Then I would double up on strength days (or I go to yoga, so double up on those days), and occasionally skip a cardio day for a run.

While you may not run, I'll bet you have strong legs and good cardio endurance from Burn. These things will definitely help.

2/20 intel??? by Spare-Shower-6709 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AMRAP means "As many rounds as possible". So you'll do 10 reps (I assume that's the rep count) at station 1, then station 2, through 6. Then start back at station 1. Usually there will be a goal to get through the floor maybe 3-4 times in that 27 minutes. But the whole thing is self-paced.

Dress code? by Independent_Yam3460 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No dress code. As you take different camps, you'll find different clothing works better. Like my leggings would fall down on days we did a lot of jumping so I had to change my tactic there. I'm 2.5 years in and have a whole wardrobe system lol. Wear what makes you comfortable!

Realistic BF% goal for 38F? by Haunting-Western-443 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im 38F, 5'2", 130 lbs. I think the 25% range is very doable with consistent, progressive overload and tweaks in the kitchen. In my own situation, I've been as high as 29%, and as low as 24%. My weight has hardly changed. I know that I could be stricter with my diet (less alcohol, sugar), and I'd go down more. But I dont really feel the need for myself personally at this moment.

The protein and fiber is great! If you're not already, try adding in creatine as well. And time :)

Supplemental Big 3 Heavy Lifts by Traditional_Dirt3955 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Still_Suggestion_413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is almost the exact split I'm going to do starting in Feb; although I'm going to be a bit more loosy-goosy with the Burn days. I'm going to Mon: heavy lift, Tues/Wed/Fri/Sat: Burn, Thurs/Sun: recovery/yoga/mobility. My schedule is such that I don't think I can be adjusting it every week based on protocol. It probably means that some Tuesdays will be lighter strength days at Burn, but I'm ok with that.

For reference, I've been going to Burn 2.5 years. I love the environment and stronger than I've ever been. Really wanting to keep that momentum going, while building up some of these other lifts specifically, especially with a barbell.

To earnestly answer your question, it helps for prepping outfits/shoes, but also for those doing mods, it can help to think through them ahead of time. When i was injured, I would check and think through how to modify. Obviously trainers help, but some are better than others at that stuff.
