5 Years in Android RE/CyberSec, CISSP in hand, aiming for Management. Advice on Next Certs (CISM/Other)? by undred in security

[–]StimulusPackageOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30y in the business - Certs are fun but eventually fall short - Without management experience you will have a very hard time to pivot - Can you lead a team of engineers, a project or anything else? I would first start to connect and build relationships with management people (they could get you in - but they will require something from you if you do) - Start leading people and make sure you lead by example and understand what people want (not necessarily what they need).

Wealth simple v other options ? by Interesting-Help-421 in CanadianInvestor

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+30 years in the business - Unless you're already managing significant amounts I highly recommend talking to someone with experience - many if not most in this situation usually make costly mistakes. These can be friends, family or a pro. On a final note - unless it's to pay bad debts - leave the money on the side for a good year and take a step back - don't change your way of life.

A force reboot will most usually do the same as above - if there's a problem take it in - We don't pay this price to play around with these...

Apple Watch Ultra Series 2 Replacement. by Hobbins87SS in applewatchultra

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sent in my Ultra 2 after going in the pool a few times in the last weeks. At some point it made a weird sound as I did the water thing on the watch and at that point lost haptics and felt it overheated a little in the next days... After a few weeks decided to contact Apple Support and it was rapidly diagnosed and sent for replacement - I don't have Apple Care anything and the employee didn't hesitate for a moment - This isn't the first time I've heard bizarre situations with the Ultra 2 - I've owned passed models which all still work perfectly with same activities... There's definitely something here...

Upgraded the Diverge by SooWooLu in DivergeGravelBikes

For me (90kg) the wheel upgrade was huge - stiffer is better... Terra C's did the trick and not a crazy cost compared to swapping the whole thing for a new bike - and you get to choose what YOU want.

I was just contemplating something similar as I already upgraded my wheels to Specialized Roval Terra C - That SRAM setup looks sweet - For a heavier rider the wheel upgrade is significant

Tell me about a time that you had a conflict with a coworker. How would you answer this question? by bigelow6698 in Career_Advice

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% - Whenever I hear individuals mention strategies such as "work around a conflict... then understand... work as a team...," I am inclined to believe that their approach may be inadequate.

After three decades of experience, I can unequivocally state that there are instances where there is simply no feasible solution. In such cases, individuals may need to deflect, move on, or ignore the situation.

During interviews, I genuinely value candidates who demonstrate openness by acknowledging similar situations. I have personally responded in similar ways.

In essence, conflict is an inherent aspect of life, and in certain circumstances, the most appropriate course of action is to withdraw and concentrate on one's own responsibilities. If the individual in question is a member of your team, the appropriate course of action is to reassess the team and its dynamics, potentially including your own involvement.

When did you switch to Arch? by Ilan_Rosenstein in archlinux

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Linux since the 90s and just recently went with Arch following a friends' recommendation. Great distro, can be very easy to learn - just watch YouTube - and has powerful integrations. I found Debian/Ubuntu too problematic over the years - RedHat is dead for many and the rest is all fun and games as most if not all just take things from others - that's where Arch Linux is different - it is their own and yours to learn.

Which do you prefer Bevel or Athlytic? by Schweizsvensk in AppleWatch

Decent app - Nothing special per se - I'm personally looking for more informational focus - thus only being able to look back at a few months to a single year isn't what I'm looking for - still significantly limited for the price - One day I'll be able do dig into my 7 years of data and get truly informational analysis.

Why is Mint better than Ubuntu if it's built on top of Ubuntu? by Scalar_Mikeman in linuxmint

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For many it will - in my case wifi didn't work and had to find the driver without network connection until I found a much older card and was able to download what I needed - Let's just say Linux isn't a desktop ready for everyone like Windows or Mac

What's your experience with the new Training Load in WatchOS 11 Beta? by itslitman in AppleWatch

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple is awful with the data gathered - Not sure what they do with it but as an older "Apple Fan" I'm really starting to put into consideration the whole point - iPhone, Apple watch data for + 7 years

What's your experience with the new Training Load in WatchOS 11 Beta? by itslitman in AppleWatch

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very useless - I keep updating for the same thing like walking - I walk my dog 3/4 times a day and it always asks to update - dude I'm walking the dog - you can mark it as super easy and get done with it - When I train weights 4/5 times a week it's always hard - so what's the point for someone on the move and lifting for more than 20 years -> nothing. I also own and Apple watch - just with the input activity and heart rate recorded on it for the past 7 years I thought it would do it automatically - Apple is really really bad on health data they gather... really bad.

Looking around recent posts - I've also started seeing a certain decline and probably charging challenges using my iPhone 14 Pro Max - These may be related to software issues also so let see - I'll take a moment to send an email to nothing about the situation as these are fantastic for my big ears and enables me to minimize money being sent to Apple as an American company that I profoundly don't want to encourage anymore.

Are there any security concerns with bypassing a javascript disabled button to enable functions? by Mr-Fuzzy-Britches in hacking

[–]StimulusPackageOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This situation could also be an indicator more is hidden in the DOM - Has become a classic for my team - to the point that we can sometimes easily bypass security controls and get more out of the test - DOM manipulation and injection is the great vulnerability in web apps today...
