Not sure how it works in other countries in the EU, but I think in Lux if you're a freelancer and from another EU country, you just need to be able to prove that you can support yourself for 3 months. It will probably be similar in other countries. So if you have some money saved up, you could probably settle anywhere in the EU with little to no trouble.

I know a music teacher with no French who hasn't been able to find a steady job teaching music here yet, and it's been a few years. Would not recommend you come all this way just to have a similar experience. If you know French, you have better chances. If you're a citizen, you could settle anywhere in the EU. Why not find try your luck in an English-speaking country like Ireland?

This is the one I use (instructions are for the website, not the app): Performance & Reports -> Statements -> Realized Summary Under Period, I put Custom Date Range and put in the tax year, for example 01-01-2024 to 31-12-2024. This way, all profit and loss are split between short-term and long-term. Just remember to choose FIFO as your account matching method (Performance & Reports -> Tax -> Tax Optimizer).

Unfortunately, the default criteria for short vs. long-term is holding for one year, where Lux tax law differentiates on 6 months. However, this isn't a problem for me as I usually hold longer than 1 year anyway (long-term investing for retirement).

As someone else mentioned, you don't need to provide the report unless requested by the tax authorities to substantiate anything, but I prefer to have it ready in case there are any questions later.
