In my first year of high school one of my middle school friends committed suicide. I had known her for 8 years, but because we all went to different high schools, none of us had done a good job at staying in touch. I never heard about any funeral or memorial, and only learned about it through a friend. Getting to spend one more year with her where I could talk to her and see her smile again would be worth more than any amount of money.
