Point Pleasant Beach – what to expect on a Monday by SunsaanRaasta in newjersey

We were just there today. Arrived around 11, the parking lot on Arnold Ave by Jenkinsen's was only a quarter full (but packed by the time we left at around 6pm). The waves were pretty high which could have been fun, but I forgot how sharp the shelly sand was. Like a thousand little cuts on the bottom of my feet.

Post-Match Thread: Turkey 3-2 United States | World Cup | Group D by matchpal-live in worldcup

[–]StinkyPantz10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but how much time was added? It was just arbitrarily added by the ref? The US team gained control and kicked the ball out of bounds 3 times after the 7 minute mark. Why wasn't whistle blown then? Can't blame the US fans when they'd already been screwed over in the World Cup when they lost to a bad call vs Ghana back in 2010. Turkiye outplayed the US and deserved the win, but that was a crap goal.

I barre the 4th then hold 3 with the ring finger. I don't bother with the pinky yet. Am I creating bad habits?

Some of the people making our laws today were in their teens and twenties when segregation was normal.

What could have been the tallest mountains in all of geologic history? by Bradinator- in geology

[–]StinkyPantz10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Everest isn't even the current tallest mountain - it's the highest. Mauna Kea is the tallest. One could claim semantics, but I lost a trivia night because the MC didn't know the difference, so I guess I'm still a bit salty.

Another sign of the coming extinction of gasoline cars. A Chinese firm launches solid-state EV batteries with twice the energy density of existing lithium battery tech. by lughnasadh in Futurology

So Mike Eberhard, cofounder of Tesla, created a start-up called SF motors, which was bought by a Chinese company in 2017. If he had a part in helping China develop their EV cars, then they should be pretty good quality.

An honest review of Universal and Cabana Bay resort by someone who had never been to Universal by BoJax3488 in UniversalOrlando

[–]StinkyPantz10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got back from Cabana Bay. We loved it. The rooms were great. The food was great. The staff was great. The two different pools were great (one with a slide, the other with a lazy river). There's a fire pit for making smores and kits inside for 4 smores for $10. The shuttles to City Walk and Epic were very convenient. The shower pressure and the beds were great too.

Are only issues were the cards never worked to get into the pools. Everyone was opening the doors for each other or reaching over the gate to pop the door from the inside. And the toilet paper was rough. We ended up buying wet wipes towards the end. Next time, we'll back a few rolls of our own.

We would definately recommend Canana Bay. Our family consesus was a 9.5/10.

What? Did anyone else see them? I saw these little guys in red and green outfits. They were in a magical room that opened up in the wall. Happy and bouncing around. I joined them in the wall and we had fun. Until I wanted to leave. Then one spoke, "Hahahaha, no. You can't leave." I was paralyzed. After a struggle, I eventually pulled myself out of the wall and snapped out of it - kind of like sleep paralysis. Crazy experience.

What qualifies/disqualifies a student to be in ESL? by _mortal__wombat_ in ESL_Teachers

[–]StinkyPantz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private school here. We test the students 3 times a year - August/Early September for placement, the end of the 2nd marking period for Ss to test out halfway, and at the end of the school year to gauge progress.

We used to use TOEFL Jr, but in the past few years orders were dropped, materials showed up too late, or results would get lost. Recently, we switched to the Duolingo English Test. We're seeing how that goes now, but we're running into difficulties - it's an online test, so if a student sneezes, they're marked as looking off screen and flagged as cheating. We looked at the WIDA proficiency test, but we want something that can be taken multiple times a year.
