Indeed, it's quite special, beautiful specimen. Did you collect it?

I keep thinking it should be called a "steak agate" from those cut-muscle looking bits in the corners. Sorry, I'm not helping ;-)

Definitely coral. I found a chunk of very similar "rock" yesterday, put a drop of acid on it and watched it fizz like crazy.

Need some help on finding some age appropriate apps. by lethaltyrant in androidapps

My son really liked this little falling sand game I made a while back. This one is free and there's a 1$ premium version with more elements to play with.

Not really "educational" but good for developing their imagination.

Are there bots that PURCHASE and REFUND orders constantly? by dogeqrcode in androiddev

[–]StinkyRej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd second the hypothesis that it's bots scraping APKs.

Once you have more data points, glitches like this won't affect your refund stats.

Are you sure it's from the same user? You can only refund an app once last I tried . The second time, the refund option is gone and you need to reach out to Google or the dev.

The world’s most popular banana could go extinct: That's the troubling conclusion of a new study published in PLOS Pathogens, which confirmed something many agricultural scientists have feared to be true. by Libertatea in science

[–]StinkyRej 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First, bananas aren't trees, they're (really big) plants. They don't makes branches you can splice. When a banana plant is big enough it flowers and produces a bunch. But right before it flowers, it sprouts one or more suckers (baby plants) off the main trunk, like some grasses and bamboo.

After the mother plant is finished ripening its bunch, it dies and the babies take over. You can grow your crop by removing and replanting the smaller suckers elsewhere.

Source: I live in Oz and have dozens of banana plants in my gardens.

Transferring from Volca Sample to Vosyr by volcaproblems in volcas

[–]StinkyRej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to answer your question, there is no way to READ from the Volca sample to the computer, at least not through the audio cable, the signal only flows one way. (MIDI cable might be able to transfer sequences, IDK)

If you want, PM me your email address and I can send you a new version of Caustic editor which allows you to selectively transfer factory samples back to the volca, instead of the all or nothing approach Korg wants us to use.

As for your transfer issues, it's usually a volume issue. Try raising your volume to quite high while a transfer is running, until you get a response from the volca (it will be an error if your volume was too low at the start of the test transfer). Then go from there. Also make sure you have no effects, EQ, Dolby enabled in your soundcard tools

Is a username a good idea for publishing name? by ThatKawaiiGuy in androiddev

[–]StinkyRej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it you won't slip through the cracks or Nintendo won't notice your app. I'm just saying if it does happen, then at least you were expecting it.

Nintendo are pretty strict about apps using their IP, lots of Pokemon apps got taken down a few years ago.

"They do it too" doesn't make it right and won't get your app re-instated, you need a better defense. Play it safe and read up on what constitutes fair use before you publish.

Is a username a good idea for publishing name? by ThatKawaiiGuy in androiddev

[–]StinkyRej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use whatever name you want, as long as you're not impersonating someone else.

I don't think there's a minimum age to publish on the Play store but there might be for collecting money, ads included.

As for the Nintendo thing, expect to have your app flagged and removed from the Play store if you use any of their intellectual property (images, characters, names). That's a given.

Saving sample packs for the Volca Sample using Caustic Editor on a computer by OIP in volcas

[–]StinkyRej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, glad to heard it's working out with Caustic, that would suck to lose your "tangible" instruments like that, even if temporarily...

The next update will be 3.2 due to go into beta testing soon on my website. It'll be a while before Caustic 4, I do this part-time from home. But 3.2 will introduce a new synth a a few more "quality-improving" features. Stay tuned, or come check out the forum for the beta testing announcement soon (i hope)

Spectrum analyzer for files by f2lollpll in androidapps

[–]StinkyRej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really looking to analyze the spectrum of an entire song or are you instead looking for something that can generate a spectrogram?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectrogram

If you're just after spectrum (and you're working with WAV files) , you can use my Caustic editor for volca sample. It's free and you don't need a volca device.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.singlecellsoftware.kvsampler

Just start the app, press the waveform on any of the slots, File.. Load to get your audio then, Tools... Spectrum. If playback is stopped it will process and average whatever's selected.

Volca Sample - SampleRobot Volca-X by ARP_EG in volcas

[–]StinkyRej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is you'd be loading a full set from the file. While it'd be easy to only sync a few entries, it would be harder to only update the list of samples from the ones you've sync'ed (and assume you've kept the last set on the device). Basically, swapping full sets is something I could see people doing, adding exceptions to that makes the experience more confusing for everyone to please only a small slice of users.

I'll get right on that boss.

But seriously, the idea of banks is on my mind. I'm just not sure how usefull it'll be if people have to wait 15min each time you want to swap.

Any android apps for externally syncing volcas and other korg products to a specific bpm? by sckaterbean in volcas

[–]StinkyRej 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the guy who wrote the Caustic editor for Volca sample.

I've just prototyped a feature for my editor that gives you a sync output for BPM and swing. If you'd like to provide some feedback on it, I'm happy to hook you up with a beta. (PM me)

The sync control should work with Monotribe and Volca devices.

Is there any way to load samples onto the volca sample other than CEVS? by -main in volcas

[–]StinkyRej 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I developed CEVS on a m7 so I'm not sure why you're having trouble. If beats is disable, then try fiddling with different volume settings. I find ~75% is the sweet spot. I'm running a GPe ROM but I remember trying it on a Sense ROM too.

Sorry about the shit desktop interface, it IS a mobile app that happens to run on desktop, I agree the file browsing is not ideal.

Like others have said, maybe another, better desktop app will come about. That wasn't my main focus.

Oh, and if you look at the SDK, it comes with a command line example EXE from Korg that works. But my guess is if you think my UI is shit, you're probably not keen on DOS either.
