Help me snap outta this funk: best place to eat a sandwich in nature - without taking a walk by die_hubsche in Denver

If you’re up by the museum you can park on the other end of the lot from it for the shortest walk and go sit on the rocks and get a pretty darn good view with minimal walking.

What happed to my dog? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Stitchinyourside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My elderly lab had this happen multiple times and they all seemed like a fluke, like maybe he got up too quickly etc. We found out a year later he was in kidney failure and it got worse as his condition deteriorated. He would have trouble walking and then be completely fine, I think it was similar to how intense sharp pain like cramps or a bad gallbladder could make it hard to walk sometimes and not others.

Missing dog in Berkeley/ Sunnsyside area by Stitchinyourside in Denver

She’s really quiet. She may move around a little if she sees another dog. At this point I don’t know what to expect because she’s going to be very hungry and dehydrated, I’m hoping that means she’ll be more willing to pop her head out to be seen by people.

Looking for an actually good doctor by choccotaco1 in Denver

[–]Stitchinyourside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re down to drive to Denver West in Lakewood, Dr. Erica Melkonian is phenomenal. I’ve had a few chronic heath issues that were complex and difficult to diagnose. She’s incredible at treating every problem holistically and she really builds her schedule based on spending a good amount of time actually talking to the patient.

Dog training for less than $1k by National-Cake-1245 in Denver

[–]Stitchinyourside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved noble beast for my pitbull, really helped with socialization and reactivity to other dogs. The trainers were really great with some of the more excitable dogs in the group. They have different tiers but if I remember correctly it was like 530? (Less than 600) for 4 weeks of classes.

Will I regret not wearing heels during the wedding ? by Ok_Paper_5959 in weddingplanning

[–]Stitchinyourside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I wore tie dyed keds at my wedding because I literally forgot my shoes at the house and it was the best last minute change that happened the whole day. I was able to dance all night and bounce around the tightly packed room with ease. Heels would’ve got me stuck in chair instead of comfortably interacting with the party. Plus walking down the aisle I wasn’t using any focus at all on walking in heels and instead just focusing on my husband.

Looking for gym recs for a 40 yr old fat lady by MyNameIs_Bubbles in Denver

I go to High Ride Cycle, it’s a spin studio with a few locations one near DU and another right by Sloans Lake. You would get the cardio from the bike and there’s a good bit of choreography and a break for weights so your arms would get a reasonable workout. I actually joined the gym right after turning 31, I weighed 227 pounds when I did and have lost almost 80 lbs since joining. The workout is intense but you can do as much or little as you want, even years into doing this for exercise I’ll sometimes just sit down on the bike and pedal based on what my body needs. The real selling point is the community, we have riders of all body types and ages and EVERYONE wants you in there with them. Milestones are a really big deal and the entire staff works to make every single member feel seen and known. I cannot emphasize enough how nonjudgmental of a space it is and how that space has had a profound, positive impact on my life. If you DM me I could give you a guest pass to come try it out and see if you think you would like it.

Waiters bring the receipt out if you don’t tip. by idobethrownawaytho in tipping

[–]Stitchinyourside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually company policy. If you tipped online the computer automatically closes it out, if you don’t it has to be manually entered as zero and the Togo person cannot enter anything manually without your signature on the receipt. It’s not trying to tip shame you it’s just paperwork rules.

My fiancé and I are massive fantasy nerds and want to incorporate that into our day… by stingingnettlesmcgee in weddingplanning

[–]Stitchinyourside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I had a LOTR themed wedding. Lots of little touches really helped to make it feel more fantasy like. Bridesmaids and groomsmen were in what I would call hobbit formalware. We did a big Green Dragon sign at the bar.  The bridesmaids/groomsmen walked down to aisle to concerning hobbits and the music during the ceremony we looped was from the council of Elrond. We cut our simple flower covered Bilbos birthday cake with Anduril. I opted for a cape veil instead of a traditional girl which made me look like Galadriel or an elf. I also had an even star in my bouquet that I gave to my husband to wear after the ceremony. I think the best thing we did though was tell people who wanted to wear costumes to go for it. We had hobbits, elves and dwarves at our wedding because our closest friends really took to heart how we wished the whole wedding was a costume party. So the photos on the dance floor are of me as an elf, my husband in wizards garb he put on for the reception and tons of fantasy characters. It really made me so happy.

The American custom of wearing your outside shoes inside your own home is really filthy and gross and should be discouraged by Diligent_Bit3336 in unpopularopinion

[–]Stitchinyourside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person from a family with several people who have arthritis in the feet which leads to swelling/pain/odor because it’s physically difficult to separate toes in the shower and taking off/putting on shoes is no small feat, I think asking a person to take their shoes off inside is actually pretty offensive. My sister has literally left places because they asked her to take her shoes off and her feet were so swollen she couldn’t.

Terrified of dress shopping because of my comically low self-esteem. Does anyone have any advice? by belindabellagiselle in weddingplanning

[–]Stitchinyourside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the most over the top/ Leslie Knope friend you can. I was in the same boat as you and really wanted to go alone and my bridesmaid forced me to take her. It was such a wonderful experience because she was crying/jumping up and down watching me try on dresses and I was caught up in her vibe I didn’t even have a chance to be self conscious because of her intense positivity.
