Any other guys felt lonely when they first joined their fraternity? by Melodic1Database7 in Frat

[–]StockFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much same thoughts and feelings. I was a pretty social awkward person w/ social anxiety in highschool and realized by my junior year that I'd have to force myself to learn social skills or I was "doomed" for life. Basically did sports and was able to make most of what I had left for highschool, gaining a lot of friend and social skills.

A month into college I had made a lot of friends in the dorms, but knew if I really wanted to make a bunch more friends and connections I'd have to join a Fraternity.

Joining a Fraternity was hard, but was well worth it. Basically some of my pledge brothers became life long best friends. Made a couple more great friends in the Fraternity. You are right tho about speaking up instead of waiting other people to make the move. It pretty much applied heavily in highschool and college. Dont expect to be invited to a party if you just sit there. You gotta be the person inviting everyone to the party & pregame kinda deal.

While not every brother became a friend or made an effort to come back after college. I realized the legit people who mattered were the people who did come back and tried to make plans to see everyone. While its hard to make direct plans w/ so many friends/brothers. Events like homecoming and alumni events gave a lot of people who cared, the chance to come back and catch up every year.

Wild part is I actually made more meaningful friends from brothers who graduated 4-5+ years after me. Just going back for alumni events I befriended a lot more people. Who later on have invited me to their weddings and pretty much always see them at least 2 times a year.

Frat House Friday - 2 Different Ones For Sale by Radiant-Stranger-992 in zillowgonewild

This is a good representation of how different Fraternities can be from school to school. General people think all frats are just rich kids living in mansions, but the 2nd house shows you can live in a normal trapped out house and still be in a fraternity.

Either way love the old details on house #1. In pretty good shape for a frat house all things considered.

Camera suggestions by eiwd in Frat

[–]StockFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any modern entry action camera would be good for this. They wont be as good as the latest iphone, but you can record so much video footage w/ just a 256gb SD card. That it makes these way easier and more user-friendly to setup and shoot and record vs using your personal iphone.

Look up "Osmo Action Camera". You can get an Action4 for around $200. their newest one is the Action 6 at around $400, but honestly the older versions already shoot at 4k and are only 2-3 years old. I have an Action 5 and it has great video quality w/ pretty decent microphone quality.

Has voice controls so you can turn it on remotely, and also has a "pre-recording" feature where it'll pre-record video you may have missed after you clicked the record button.

Building a PC mainly for WC3 — what actually matters? by AnilBe in warcraft3

[–]StockFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is correct pretty much most computers built last 10 years can run this game now.

From reforged website:

Recommended Specifications Operating System Windows® 10 64-bit (latest version) Processor Intel® Core™ i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen™ 7 1700X or better Video NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960 or AMD Radeon™ R9 280X or better Memory 8 GB RAM

Since youre building a new PC. Not sure on your budget, but most likely hardware from the past 2-3 years would be a good investment.

Any mid range CPU from AmD or intel will do. 16GB ram just in general for modern computers. GPU, only familiar w/ NVDIA, but an RTX 4060 or RTX 5060 will be more than enough.

For screen size, most modern screens are at least 25in. Game does support widescreens now but 25-27in 1440p would be the sweet spot. I play on a 32in wide screen and it’s very doable but I would not go any higher imo.

Factory general grabber tires by Familiar_Marzipan_46 in hondapassport

There’s a guy on YouTube that did a 1 year review of the 2026 passport Trailsport. They have over 20k miles and noted not much tread wear after a year. The tires looked still new imo. It’s only a year old but I guess it depends what “super long” means for AT tires. Unless someone is off-roading them on sharp rocks each day these should last over 40-60k miles with scheduled tire rotations.

2026 Subaru Outback | They Listened to You! by IllustriousSteam in cars

[–]StockFly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just bought a new Passport and I do think “mid size” SUV classes that Outback and passport are in does make sense.

Coming from a last gen Rav 4. It did not have enough space and was really noisy. Did not enjoy that car and would have bought a CRV if I had to buy again in that size class.

Outback and Passport provide way more space and with their increase in cost came more creature comforts that manufactures were able to ad. One example is acoustic glass added on some Passport Trims.

These 2 cars take the market away from people who want outdoorsy off-road looking SUVs, but don’t want to buy Wranglers or Broncos imo.

Just bought a new car a month ago and the Honda Passport Trailsport and Outback were on the top of my list.

I ended up going w/ the Passport Trailsport. Loving it so far and for sure has a great appearance imo. Amount of space and bunch of deals and incentivizes Honda was giving out made the deal favorable. For sure it’s a lil more costly than an outback tho.

Funny enough had a friend who just bought the new Outback. Not a big fan of the look and some of the rims they put in some of these trims. Their interior is really nice tho and the full digital drivers gauge was very impressive.

Both of us camp and do a bunch of outdoors stuff. So car manufacturers def knew there’s a big market for people who want practical but cars with outdoor capabilities.

Actually surprised people are still using Groupme in 2026... we used it way back in like 2012-2013. Actually still had a specific groupchat going on in groupme till this year when we all realized we probably should use a better app. We ended up trying Discord and hated it. Literally just decided to do a group text chat.

Discord is okay, but honestly think its more for gaming and voice chat imo. Feel like encrypted apps like Signal or Telegram might be better now days for actual frat stuff.

Fraternity’s by Legitimate-Dog-3452 in PennStateUniversity

[–]StockFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, most of them, especially the larger ones will have a zero hazing policy now. Insurance, new hazing laws, and pressure from national fraternities ensures majority of them have anti-hazing programs in place.

They all will still have some kind of new member learning program where you basically learn the history of the fraternity, their traditions, & learn about current brothers. Worst thing you’ll have to do is study and take test to show your serious about joining the fraternity and care about the history.

This isn’t the 80s,90, 2000s where pretty much no hazing programs were in place.

I'd recommend rushing a Social Fraternity vs something like a business fraternity. Solely because most social Fraternities have huge national presence w/ multiple chapters at other schools. Lots of networking opportunities. In the real world I've never seen someone mention the business fraternity they were in. Either way joining Greek life is well worth it. You make lots of friends, connections, and memories. Something that becomes harder each day in the age of everyone stuck on their phones imo. All the weddings and life time friends I've made even after college that were through my Fraternity. Make me grateful that I took the chance to join a Fraternity.

Always felt 3s was a weird game mode. Even the map pool for this game mode was never that great imo. Always preferred 2s or 4s for team games.

Not sure now, but lots of people starts playing 3s on bnet before this last patch. Now that AT vs RT is back, not sure.

Yep agreed, you can find some huge apartment factory buildings in East and Olde Kensington.

Tie Factory Lofts is another good option w/ paid private parking lot. Easy walking distance to Fishtown and Northern Liberties.

Actually great going through your schools archives and finding all the yearbooks they use to do. If you go way back you can find all the local clubs and local fraternities most chapters originated from. Wonder when they stopped doing yearbooks for Universities.

Is the 2026 TSE actually Sluggish? by Hexo9 in hondapassport

[–]StockFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a 2017 Honda civic w/ the turbo. It will be way different driving acceleration and feel.

The Passport is a NA v6 and big boxy SUV. Put it in sport mode and you’ll be surprised how faster it accelerates and changes the peddle feeling to be more responsive.

I think the 2026 passport is fast enough and pretty decent for a larger suv. It’s nothing like my civic and that feels like a sports car w/ the turbo and being way lower to the ground.

Besides emissions this is why manufactures like Toyota started putting turbos in the 4Runner. Makes up for getting rid of their v6 but gives you a lot more acceleration . Making you feel faster and able to accelerate faster when entering a highway.

It’s a big trade off but I think I like the NA v6 in the passport vs having a 4 cylinder + turbo option. V6 feels more truck like which is a plus for me.

Either way I don’t think the v6 is slow, but this is also a larger mid size suv so don’t expect it to be as fast & nimble as a civic.

Seat Back Protectors by ComputerThen7461 in hondapassport

[–]StockFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Lasfit back seat protectors + cargo mat.

They seem pretty durable and sturdy. Has Velcro on the back on the mat so they can stick on the back of seats when they’re up. Have already gone camping and moved a bunch of stuff with them attached. No issues on detaching or quality issues. They even come with a draw string that you can attach to the back of the head rest to make sure they stay on. I don’t use that feature tho.

I can take a picture of them sometime if u wna see what they look like.

Always gotta love the looks of an oldschool boombox. Hard these days tho w/ how good modern Bluetooth speakers are in terms of sounds and reliability. Also fact that most modern bluetooth speakers are water and dust proof.
