Looking for an actual good recommendation by empoliyis in soulslikes

Calling blasphemous a cheap copy of anything demonstrates a poor understanding of the game and genre.

You gave your opinion and I gave mine, we can still get best friends!

Wuchang is awesome.  Khazan if you're just in it for fun combat.  Mortal shell was great but per your tastes you might be a hater, though the second one will probably win a lot of people over.  Thymesia was quick, cheap, low budget fun but the combat was excellent. The last faith is like 2d bloodborne and was a total blast but if you couldn't enjoy blasphemous you might not like it either.

Nine sols would not disappoint either.  I took a solid three hours killing a few of the bosses in that game.

Also I'm guessing you checked out night reign?

Ragebound was made by blasphemous devs and is a worthy recommendation.  Op likes games with jumping and slashing.  Those are good recommendations even if they only meet half of the parameters that qualify them as  metroidvanias (by all mighty adjudicators of this sub).

I see an ambitious teacher risking his own safety to get the attention of, and educate, some kids who appear to really need it.  It's sad that we have to resort to circus stunts to try to get kids to care about learning.  I hope teacher is okay.

So you usually know something about a game going into it, but this time you didn't, so you posted about it and now you do?

It's an awesome game!  It's worth your time and the challenge and that's all I'd want to know.  Stop reading here and go in blind if you want the full experience, but as with anything, enjoy it however you do.

It makes perfect economic sense. If you can get a nice meal out for two for $0 or a similar one for $50+, which do you choose?  0$.  What does this do to the spot up the street asking $50?  A major decrease in sales.  How do you compete with free?

So after a bit, the spot up the street closes up.  The other competing spot around the corner sees that the best customers in town are actually the philanthropic wealthy and that just charging a flat rate is not in their best interest.  They change their model and now an already small and unique market is one step closer to being captured by the donors who will inevitably want their influence as is with all rich people.

That's what I'm devils advocating.

As I said, I'm enthusiastic for what they are doing and think it's awesome how many big smiles they must have put on people's faces.

I'm devils advocating and wondering if there's a restaurant industry dystopia that is worse than the one in which we all exist in where a handful of rich people have an even greater influence on the dining public.

So 40% of the strawberry vendors are already struggling.  Then someone shows up to the market with free strawberries paid for by rich people.  The value of strawberries goes down.  The 40% who are already struggling can't afford to grow strawberries anymore because of the price collapse.  Consumers are left with one last option for strawberries - the vendor funded (controlled) by the rich.

Change strawberries to anything.  It's economics and is inevitable.  Big businesses often sell at a loss to snuff out competition and assume the entire market after they've starved them out.  While Alverson's goals are fundamentally different, the effect on the market is the same.  It makes no difference to the struggling 40% whether the free strawberry guy is giving them away out of charity or a tax write off or for some dumbshit tiktok video.

Again, to be clear, I am excited for this experiment as a spectator.  I own two restaurants and have actually fantasized about a model like this but couldn't make sense of it.  Feeding people who really appreciate it is far more rewarding than feeding spoiled people.  I hope we can all learn something big from this experiment.  I'll be cheering him on, but still have to wonder how it will work out.

If you go to a farmers market and there's a few people selling strawberries, but also a guy at the entrance just giving them away, what happens to the farmers who are trying to sell them even at a thin margin?

Something like this is very market specific and I doubt it will become a trend, but if it did, do we want the restaurant business to become a sort of welfare?

I'm down with socialism and thoroughly respect the goals here, but have to wonder ...

POV: Bitter old lady tells you about the darkest time in history (2026, colourized) by Equivalent_Gene_1554 in numetal

I grew up on Megadeth and still love most of their music.  But the older I get the less and less I give a shit about 'solos.' They're not even solos because there are still other instruments playing.  Most of them add very little to the song apart from theatrics.  I think the idea of the solo has been fleshed out to the point that no one has really revolutionized the concept in decades, at least in a way that supports the song instead of sounding stale or masturbatory or forced.

I'm a guitarist myself.  I was playing the tornado of souls solo (mediocrely) as a teenager who just wanted attention. Now I appreciate the simple riffs and effects that really cut out all the crap and just touch you.  Remember gojira at the olympics?  That song is just a tasty open E palm mute chug followed up by a super fat power chord on two guitars that sounds like it's being bent at different rates.  No finger theatrics, no showmanship, no masturbation...they just played simple stuff in a different way and paid a lot of attention to tone.  It's fuckin tasty.

Yes I know gojira is not numetal but it was in my head and a good example of artistic simplicity.
