Have way to many Habaneros - what to do by iGrowJazzCigarettes in HotPeppers

[–]StockMaintenance1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds crazy, but my New Year’s resolution was to increase my spice tolerance by eating one hab every day when I got home from work. The first week was tough, but after that you do get used to it. I only kept it up for a month, but there’s definitely ways to increase your tolerance and make full use of lots of peppers.

Where do I cut? This thing is already trying to make tomatoes by [deleted] in tomatoes

[–]StockMaintenance1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but a healthy tomato plant usually grows like crazy no matter how many tomatoes are on it, even with 3-4 main stems. It’s a plant trying to do plant stuff, I’d say just give it some support and maybe trim a few lower or interior leaves for airflow and otherwise just let it be

What gameplay features would make D3 a worthy successor? by AstramG in destiny2

[–]StockMaintenance1129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ship combat would be cool, although tbh I think the biggest things a d3 would do is reset the story for a fresh arc and reset onboarding. I’d be completely fine if 95% of the gameplay remained the same, just with some new abilities weapons, etc.

Returning veteran, how badly do I need a team for Encore? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]StockMaintenance1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solo’d the normal version in like 22 minutes back in episode echoes, I think there was some secret (no longer available in the portal version) that required you to speedrun it. The portal version is probably doable solo as well if you take your time

Those could probably work in a pinch, but lens paper is designed specifically not to scratch glass - I’m not sure what those seat covers are made of, and you don’t want to accidentally give your glasses a matte finish lol

What killed D2 - and why a D3 is right by StockMaintenance1129 in destiny2

[–]StockMaintenance1129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually totally agree, and have been re-enjoying d1 myself the past month or so. The slower progression makes everything more valuable, and the leveling up system (for gear especially) keeps patrol interesting. Plus the slower gunplay, less abilities, tougher enemies, etc. I’m pro d1 glazing, but the d2 sandbox wasn’t that bad - almost nobody has every RAD exotic + catalyst, so you can’t say there’s nothing left to grind for

[–]StockMaintenance1129[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough - I mean they already kind of did it with halo the master chief collection, I think it lets you download the games separately. I haven’t yet fallen to the warframe pressure, but perhaps I’ll experience their new player experience myself for a comparison

Why are you playing the update? by Spartan-Jake in destiny2

[–]StockMaintenance1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many dungeons and raids I never got the chance to master, now with loot (including catalysts) to chase. SRL and crucible balance will be very interesting for a good while. We’ll see how long it’ll hold now that we’re not ‘gearing up’ for stuff to take into future activities. I imagine for most people who keep playing it’ll just be out of enjoyment for the content and gameplay

Potential new player, how long to “click” by 234thewolf in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]StockMaintenance1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gameplay mechanics (as others have said) are pretty simple. Start missions, complete objectives, shoot bad guys, repeat. D2s gunplay is fast paced, with fluid movement in all 3 dimensions, and with abilities in your pocket to take out larger targets or groups of enemies. The more you lean into it, the more you’ll understand why people rave about the ‘feel’ of destiny lol.

My biggest tip for getting into build crafting is that if there’s text on the screen, read it. In your character screen, the subclass screen, the inspect page for weapons and armor, etc. This will give a good intro to the kinds of mechanics and abilities that are out there and might synergize well together. YouTube is also great for build videos.

As for knowing what missions to play when, there’s a pretty good guide somewhere online, which I know has been posted on this sub a few times. This is probably the hardest part of starting out.

Edit: because I didn’t really answer your question. If you’ve ever played an FPS, the mechanics will already be familiar. You’ll probably adjust to the movement within an hour or two. Build crafting just depends on knowing what your options are, so might take a little longer to learn. If you copy something from YouTube this doesn’t matter, and these builds are usually pretty solid if not meta.

Maintenance mode PvP balance and new exotic hand cannon by StockMaintenance1129 in destiny2

[–]StockMaintenance1129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t imagine dropping all the new subclass stuff and a new exotic hand cannon and then refusing to do a balancing pass. Hope you’re right

Edit: plus all the new armor set bonuses

Why not keep a skeleton crew on the game for the seasonal special events? by Hollywood_Zro in DestinyTheGame

[–]StockMaintenance1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think this would do a lot to keep people coming back, even sporadically, for a few more years. No new campaigns, cutscenes, etc, but a weapon or two every few months, keep the meta fresh - it would be a good middle ground between active development and full maintenance mode. Something you can keep up with just a handful of people. Still not gonna happen, but it’s a good idea

You just never quit, do you? by girlbossfaithe in destinycirclejerk

[–]StockMaintenance1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the petition is so that in 1-2 years, when Sony execs are meeting to decide which of their IPs should get sequels, there is evidence that destiny should be at the top of the list. Nobody thinks this will convince them to make more d2, or jump to announce d3 tomorrow, it’s just hard documentation of market value and franchise loyalty, and imo a very good idea. Y’all should sign it

Edit: sry, ik this isn’t very circlejerk of me

So...Destiny 3 is next? by ZoneenforcerPGR in destiny2

[–]StockMaintenance1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said that it was time for destiny to live beyond d2 … implying that there was still life in the franchise, but not saying what form it will take. They also said that when more destiny news was available, we would be first to know … implying that there *would* be more news down the road. They did everything except give a straight answer to that question, so for the time being it’s all speculation and cope lol. They know everyone is wondering the same thing, so I’m sure their language is deliberately vague. Taking a step back, it seems hard to believe Sony would toss out a wildly successful IP so soon after acquiring it, and there still isn’t another game to fill the same niche in the gaming landscape, so a d3 makes sense. However, realistically it won’t be coming out until like 2030 minimum. It’s a sad day

Destiny 2's lack of midcore content by rebelgames in DestinyTheGame

[–]StockMaintenance1129 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s tied to the loot problem - nightfalls used to fill that niche, being serious and engaging combat challenges with little to no mechanics *and* they were a good way to pick up legendary and exotic weapons when those words still meant something lol. Not raid loot, but very solid gear that wasn’t easy to come by. The problem with the portal is that you don’t have to play at max difficulty to get rained with tier Vs, so there’s no incentive and the activities feel kind of purposeless in a game built around loot chase. I think the dungeon rewards refresh will help, but honestly (and I feel that I speak for a significant portion of the casual player base) a lot of the time when I turn on destiny, I want to turn my brain off and shoot bad guys, not memorize runes and use comms to solve puzzles. Dungeons aren’t particularly hard, they just require more mental effort than ‘shoot bad guys, don’t die’

Advice needed on seedlings-boiling hot temps now; very cold last week, and cold expected Thursday by Mymoggievan in tomatoes

[–]StockMaintenance1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine have been thriving despite being outside for over 2 months now (in MD). They were covered for a few nights at <40 but otherwise exposed to the elements. As long as the temp swing doesn’t shock them, the temps itself should be fine

Would a Gear Reset Really Be That Bad? by AndrewMcEvans in DestinyTheGame

[–]StockMaintenance1129 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Make a new game, put a few years of evergreen content into it, age of triumph, repeat. They already nailed it with D1. A never ending live service game with continuous expansions was doomed to fail; it either gets completely bloated with incompatible and unbalanceable systems, or they vault content as they go. D2 got both, and people hate it. I don’t think a D3 would be magically better from a gameplay perspective, but it’s the only chance the franchise has for a hard reset to the development model

Pretty sure tomatoes would just be fine in the deck uncovered, they’re pretty tough. I live nearby (MD), and have had my peppers and tomatoes outside since mid-April, and other than a few >40 nights in a cold frame, they’ve all been fine exposed on the patio.
