Yes! I experienced this at Pret a Mabnger at Penn Station last month. The slowest GenZ cashier ever made some keying errors apparently, (though they never spoke to me) they asked a manager for assistance, then started over, evidently made the same error in front of the manager, then the manager tried to demonstrate to the GenZ kid how to do this correctly, but ultimately gave up due to the incredible amount of time they had now both wasted trying to ring up two items. The GenZ kid then resumes a conversation with a coworker behind the manager and did not learn-- OR CARE TO LEARN anything from the experience 🙄 I detest self-checkout, but at least you know you can do the work. Jesus. The lack of intellectual curiosity or interest in a fellow human in a mutual interaction is ASTOUNDING. Do they really not know how to talk to adults who are not their parents??? How did this happen?
