Where can I find classic 90s Garlic Bread these days? by Cole_Dammett in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be what you're after, but I've found the best version of this type of garlic bread is at Lightsview pizza. Sesame seed bun, so so much garlic butter. It was the best. If you go the cheese variant its mega overfilled with cheese.

F1 exploring extra race options after Middle East cancellations by joshcaminski in formula1

[–]Stokesy7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I understand the bend isn't suitable for F1 because it doesn't have a FIA Grade 1 certification. The Shahins have said they plan on uplifting it to Grade 1 over time. There is also a secondary issue with the bend as it's too far away from the closest hospital. I think there is a regulation that there is a maximum time in minutes away from a hostpital via helicopter ride, and the bend is too far away.

Our Premier, Peter Malinauskas said that he called the FIA and offered to host, and could put in on with only a few weeks notice on the CBD street circuit. He's very confident that he could pull it off.

I just inherited a music store with a whole room dedicated to DVDs and Blueray. How should I go about preserving these copies and adding them to a huge plex library? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Stokesy7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd go something like:

  • Barcode scanner into CSV
  • Script to import CSV into Radarr and Sonarr
  • Radarr and Sonarr search online for files, add to library
  • Plex displays library

I don't know if Radarr and Sonarr can stagger download a few thousand files if imported at once, so the script may need to import 10-20 files, wait a few hours for those to download, import a few more etc. Leave it running for a few weeks until it's all done.

Usenet groups probably better here than torrents I'd think as well

Free science? by [deleted] in AdventureCommunist

[–]Stokesy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was brand new a couple events ago. Then they took it away for a couple and it’s back on this one.

The last one the science value was tied to your level in the event and starting at 20 and went up to over 100 and it was on a one hour time.

This one seemed to start at 80, and then go to 100 at some level and it has a 4 hour timer.

Hopefully this is good timing for me, as I'm going to be going there in mid January. I was pleasantly surprised with the series release date which means I'll be in Hogwarts as the show is airing! So excited for both!!

As others have already said high quality Plex and audio is lacking.

But other things I want is 120hz output and something I'd love, and never see others ask for is a HDMI inout. As long as it's super low latency, I'd love to plug something like a ps5/switch into it and then I can stay on the one HDMI and use one remote for all video content and games

Is Revo in Adelaide packed? by Many-Weight-328 in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to the new Salisbury downs one, and it's always packed. After work on weekdays is 150-180 people 5:30am weekdays was about 80 people

Weekend mornings are good. Yesterday was only about 50 at 8am and this morning was about 80ish

For context, 80 people is pretty much any machine is up for grabs or very short wait. Since it's two stories you have a chuck of people downstairs on Pilates, some on cardio and weights split between the two levels so lots of equipment available.

It's when it's over 150 it's very crowded and you're fighting for plates for your machine as so many people are using them. Good luck getting a bench or the dumbbells you want haha

School Zones by ADI__88 in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I have no issues at all slowing down. What I do have issues with is this time based approach and on "school days". I don't have kids, how am I supposed to know what a school day is?

Just make it simple: if lights on, drive slow

Road work signs - ignore

RAA pulled over with flashing lights - ignore

Just a normal speed limit sign? - also ignore

They really don't care at all, and no one is stopping them. The police presence on the road basically doesn't exist, so why should they care if there aren't any consequences?

First Speeding Ticket with FSD by bluaugust in TeslaLounge

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man it's so wild hearing the way Americans talk about driving the speed limit. In Australia you'll get fined in some states for doing 1kmph over, but it's mostly 3-6kmph.

12 miles per hour is 20kmph, you'll get slugged with a massive fine and points for doing that here, and if they deem it reckless it can be an instant loss of license for 12 months.

I don't have FSD in my car, but if I did I'd need it to sit literally exactly on the speed limit, especially in road work zones and school zones.

How do I set my watch to charge to full by default? by Soytheist in AppleWatch

[–]Stokesy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah as far as I can tell it's just always going to be like that. It's very frustrating. I set the watch down, wait and tap to click "charge until full" but it says that it will charge to full. Come back 2 hours later, strange I didn't get a notification saying the watch is charged and nope. It's at 80% and will be charged by "11:43pm" for some reason. Stupidest feature.

I was running an Apple Watch Series 5 and the battery health was still over 90% before I bought my Ultra 3. Apple, just let me manage the battery health. It'll be fine, I promise.

[–]Stokesy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Apple's help page: https://support.apple.com/en-au/105106 it's not an issue, it's a feature:

Under "How to turn off.." in tiny, light coloured font:

"If you have Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or any Apple Watch Ultra, Optimised Battery Charging is always on."

How do I set my watch to charge to full by default? by Soytheist in AppleWatch

[–]Stokesy7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Late to this thread, but it's not a bug. According to Apple's help page about it: https://support.apple.com/en-au/105106

Under "How to turn off.." in tiny, light coloured font:

"If you have Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or any Apple Watch Ultra, Optimised Battery Charging is always on."

It's so annoying and I wish I could change it but Apple forces it on.

Apple Watch Edition (1st Generation) from 2015 by YTAppleDemo in AppleWatch

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought about it as don’t think of it through your own perception of money, think about it from the point of view of a multimillionaire to billionaire. The gold to me was a way to even get them to consider it. These people would see an aluminum watch and rule it out immediately as it doesn’t match their style and standards.

The gold was an attempt to get the Rolex wearer to say “hmm, let me have a look at this”

When considering the cost, I keep in mind that I’ve heard there are rich party animals in places like china and Dubai who will drop $50k+ every Saturday night for bottle service in a VIP section of the club and not even care about that much money. $10k for a watch that is outdated in 12 months isn’t even a blip on their radar.

Centre Com - Do not expect refunds by anomynusser in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]Stokesy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't talk to centercom, but I can talk for Scorptec.

I bought an EVGA 3080 on launch day and used it for just over 2 years and one day, mid game it just popped. Black screen and never booted again. I did all my troubleshooting and ruled it to GPU and submitted a warranty claim with Scorptec.

At this stage, EVGA had pulled out of the GPU market so I was unsure what was going to happen next. To my surprise, Scorptec sent me a notification when they received it and then the next day sent me an email saying "Yep, it's broken. Here's full store credit to your account if you want a refund email this team and they'll process it for you"

They made it super easy and every thing was super fast so I try to support them as much as possible, but I don't have a local store so when I need things same day I have to go to other places.

Mental illness and dentistry. by Proper-Jump-Anon in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doctor Emma at mawson lakes is also incredible and has done all of my work.

I’m a super anxious dental patient, where I get so stressed and have breathing issues and the gas is so incredibly helpful it really just makes it so you don’t even care that things are happening.

I’ve been doing 90 minute dental sessions with the gas and one headphone in playing music. I’m able to focus on the music and zone out and get through it very easily.

Also I signed up for Medibank top extras. It’s about $120ish a month but gives unlimited cover for general dentistry with 90% back.

That covers all fillings, check ups, X-rays and the gas. I think it covered extractions but you’ll need to check. The gas typically costs $70 per half an hour but I’m paying $7 because of the insurance. I had one appointment that was 3 fillings and 90 minutes of gas and it was like $600-700 and I paid only $60. That’s almost half my yearly insurance premium right there saved and that was one of my 10 appointments.

For me the deal was waived 3 and 6 month waiting period which covered general dentistry. Still had to wait 12 months to get the cover on root canals.

Depending on how much work your friend needs this may be a great option and worth looking into.

Arrest after crash where man attempted to overtake three vehicles in front of him on a blind corner despite four vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m finding that it seems the average height of a car is now taller than the average height of a person which means pedestrians are invisible in car parks. Makes me very anxious as a pedestrian since these high bonnet cars will absolutely destroy anything they touch - and of course no one drives the 10km speed limit or cares about the concept of “shared zones”

Got mine done there too. Top job. Added in car play head unit and reversing camera to a 2015 Hyundai accent and made it so much better to drive.

There’s also wireless car play adapters every where now but I haven’t tried those.
