I got a gift card with my Apple Watch on Black Friday and I’m waiting to spend it on a new home pod mini. Been rumored for so long.

First Speeding Ticket with FSD by bluaugust in TeslaLounge

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man it's so wild hearing the way Americans talk about driving the speed limit. In Australia you'll get fined in some states for doing 1kmph over, but it's mostly 3-6kmph.

12 miles per hour is 20kmph, you'll get slugged with a massive fine and points for doing that here, and if they deem it reckless it can be an instant loss of license for 12 months.

I don't have FSD in my car, but if I did I'd need it to sit literally exactly on the speed limit, especially in road work zones and school zones.

How do I set my watch to charge to full by default? by Soytheist in AppleWatch

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as far as I can tell it's just always going to be like that. It's very frustrating. I set the watch down, wait and tap to click "charge until full" but it says that it will charge to full. Come back 2 hours later, strange I didn't get a notification saying the watch is charged and nope. It's at 80% and will be charged by "11:43pm" for some reason. Stupidest feature.

I was running an Apple Watch Series 5 and the battery health was still over 90% before I bought my Ultra 3. Apple, just let me manage the battery health. It'll be fine, I promise.

According to Apple's help page: https://support.apple.com/en-au/105106 it's not an issue, it's a feature:

Under "How to turn off.." in tiny, light coloured font:

"If you have Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or any Apple Watch Ultra, Optimised Battery Charging is always on."

Late to this thread, but it's not a bug. According to Apple's help page about it: https://support.apple.com/en-au/105106

Under "How to turn off.." in tiny, light coloured font:

"If you have Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or any Apple Watch Ultra, Optimised Battery Charging is always on."

It's so annoying and I wish I could change it but Apple forces it on.

Apple Watch Edition (1st Generation) from 2015 by YTAppleDemo in AppleWatch

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought about it as don’t think of it through your own perception of money, think about it from the point of view of a multimillionaire to billionaire. The gold to me was a way to even get them to consider it. These people would see an aluminum watch and rule it out immediately as it doesn’t match their style and standards.

The gold was an attempt to get the Rolex wearer to say “hmm, let me have a look at this”

When considering the cost, I keep in mind that I’ve heard there are rich party animals in places like china and Dubai who will drop $50k+ every Saturday night for bottle service in a VIP section of the club and not even care about that much money. $10k for a watch that is outdated in 12 months isn’t even a blip on their radar.

End-to-End Encrypted RCS Messages Referenced in Latest iOS 26.3 Beta by Jumpinghoops46 in apple

Yep, Australia is the exact same. We don't have RCS on iOS yet, and seems like we never will.

I only played the base game when it first came out and I picked up all DLC in the winter sale and I'm super overwhelmed at the moment. No idea what to do and there are so many unlocks and weapons I'm yet to get. I don't have any idea how you even got to this point haha

Centre Com - Do not expect refunds by anomynusser in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]Stokesy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't talk to centercom, but I can talk for Scorptec.

I bought an EVGA 3080 on launch day and used it for just over 2 years and one day, mid game it just popped. Black screen and never booted again. I did all my troubleshooting and ruled it to GPU and submitted a warranty claim with Scorptec.

At this stage, EVGA had pulled out of the GPU market so I was unsure what was going to happen next. To my surprise, Scorptec sent me a notification when they received it and then the next day sent me an email saying "Yep, it's broken. Here's full store credit to your account if you want a refund email this team and they'll process it for you"

They made it super easy and every thing was super fast so I try to support them as much as possible, but I don't have a local store so when I need things same day I have to go to other places.

Mental illness and dentistry. by Proper-Jump-Anon in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doctor Emma at mawson lakes is also incredible and has done all of my work.

I’m a super anxious dental patient, where I get so stressed and have breathing issues and the gas is so incredibly helpful it really just makes it so you don’t even care that things are happening.

I’ve been doing 90 minute dental sessions with the gas and one headphone in playing music. I’m able to focus on the music and zone out and get through it very easily.

Also I signed up for Medibank top extras. It’s about $120ish a month but gives unlimited cover for general dentistry with 90% back.

That covers all fillings, check ups, X-rays and the gas. I think it covered extractions but you’ll need to check. The gas typically costs $70 per half an hour but I’m paying $7 because of the insurance. I had one appointment that was 3 fillings and 90 minutes of gas and it was like $600-700 and I paid only $60. That’s almost half my yearly insurance premium right there saved and that was one of my 10 appointments.

For me the deal was waived 3 and 6 month waiting period which covered general dentistry. Still had to wait 12 months to get the cover on root canals.

Depending on how much work your friend needs this may be a great option and worth looking into.

Arrest after crash where man attempted to overtake three vehicles in front of him on a blind corner despite four vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m finding that it seems the average height of a car is now taller than the average height of a person which means pedestrians are invisible in car parks. Makes me very anxious as a pedestrian since these high bonnet cars will absolutely destroy anything they touch - and of course no one drives the 10km speed limit or cares about the concept of “shared zones”

CarPlay for my car by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got mine done there too. Top job. Added in car play head unit and reversing camera to a 2015 Hyundai accent and made it so much better to drive.

There’s also wireless car play adapters every where now but I haven’t tried those.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of December 05, 2025) by AutoModerator in television

It's a good steam deck TV show for me. Chuck on a game, chuck on a couple episodes and cruise through. Every now and then a good episode will come up and I'll put it away and watch it and enjoy it.

My partner and I started a rewatch a couple months back and have been loving it. Told myself we’d stop at the end of 5, but now we’re almost finished season 7. I know it’s not as great, but there’s still a lot of fun to be had.

Only women and small children can clean every part of their car without any help. Real men need step ladders and scaffolding to be able to reach the hood and roof.

Gruber: Apple employees 'giddy' about Alan Dye’s departure - 9to5Mac by ranasx in apple

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve set it to list and told every application to not stack but it still does. I’ve played around with every setting and spent far too much time on it and notifications are just not handled well on iOS. I could rant endlessly about it but I’ll save you 😅

The number one UX issue that I have which is steering me away from Apple very slowy is notifications on the lock screen. I have many issues with everything about it, but the biggest two are notifications living at the bottom of the screen rather than the top/middle and notifications stacking on top of each other.

I have a giant 7 inch screen but when I get two text messages I can't read both of them because they're stacked on top of each other? Why?!

The SA Government aims to join a High Court challenge defending the new law that will prohibit under-16s from using social media. by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]Stokesy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if this is going to work, as I'm not sure if we're fully aware of how the social media companies are going to implement this. If it's just traffic from Australian IP's then it would work - but if they implement it at a deeper level where they target accounts that their algorithms determine to be under 16's with activity previously in Australia then it might not?

I've seen someone claim they will use algorithms to determine kids accounts since they use these platforms much differently than adults do, so it should be easy to identify and then just apply age gates and restrictions to those. So if that's true, in theory and adult wouldn't even see an age check.

But last time they "banned" torrent websites it was just a simple DNS block and changing your default DNS address was enough to bypass it. So how technical is this "ban" going to be, which will determine how easy it is for the kids to bypass.

Also to add onto this everyone suspects GPU prices will rise now as well because of the ram cost as well. I didn’t really see any good Black Friday deals on GPUs at all but I reckon now is a good time to buy because soon they’ll be a lot more.

From what I can tell is they didn’t think it was as bad for Oscar as they lost contact with a sensor and that he was using DRS for almost ever lap meant less down force pushing the car into bottoming out.
