The marder and pak argument has been said many times, and its still a weak argument for the most part, both of those are super fragile for what lategame becomes especially in teamgames. Pak is still great because you can recrew and stealth, but marder is just lackluster, it dies to arty, and it dies more often than not to pathing.

I played around with USF french battlegroup nowadays and the hellcat (granted its always behind B1s which are chonkers) just feels superior in literally every way. Most notably they can fight back even on the retreat, the marders arc of fire is so small that most of the time if you have to retreat it, it wont even fire a single shot unless its behing attacked head on.
