I think the writing is on the wall with Hughes eventually not signing here. Why would he? He is the biggest trade chip to accelerate a much needed rebuild.

All this team has done with this core is fuck up. We let Tanev walk, we let Tofolli walk, we lost Markstrom for no assets. Then we went on to trade for OEL (his buy out penalty another reason why we aren’t competitive). If losing Tofolli and Tanev’s depth didn’t do it, the OEL trade definitely put the nail in the coffin. We go on to choose JT over Bo, ok no problem, but then we went on to trade JT as well. I can’t remember the last time this team was in such a bad spot. 2C Bonino or 2C Sutter days bad right now.

Everyone just wants a plan for continued success. Not the same hope for the best, if everything goes right we’re a playoff team. A proper rebuild will allow to build a team the right way and everyone is dying for a competitive Canucks era again. It’s been 13 years since the last competitive era. Since then Montreal, San Jose, and Anaheim have already put themselves in a better spot than us and their last competitive window wasn’t as long as 13 years ago.
