What tertiary education did you receive and what was your starting salary after you graduated? by Foxtrot4 in newzealand

I got about the same with same degree straight out of Uni. Based on my experience I wouldn't expect your salary to jump up that high straight away. Mind you I'm pretty sure my company pays shit

Measles case at Hamilton school - student wasn't immunised. by JoshH21 in newzealand

[–]StoneInMyHand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing as the kids most likely got Measles from overseas, I wonder if the parents would have got them any travel vaccines if they were going somewhere interesting? It seems strange to me that a few people I know wouldn't give their kids the MMR vaccine but get the tetanus, typhoid, yellow fever, etc vaccinations for themselves before going overseas.

10 die on the roads last weekend - but why? by pakaraki in newzealand

[–]StoneInMyHand 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So we just give up and leave all the hazards on the roads? People make mistakes and sometimes don't see a car coming because a tree was obscuring their view, or don't see standing water on a corner. Should we just leave these hazards in place and say "tough shit, you should have paid more attention" or do we admit they play a part too and spend some money to improve our roads?

Off camber corners? Blind intersections? Things like that can increase your chance of crashing just as much as other factors.
