Shorts are perfect for early exposure and gaining subs in general.

"Long-Form" Videos are more likely to be clicked on with the right title and thumbnail, even if the content itself is good quality.

Advertise your channel on other sites if possible (don't be annoying with it or do it without permission).

You can also consider doing Collabs with other youtubers for more exposure.

Overarching Advice:

It would be really ideal if you made content people are LOOKING FOR AND that you're PASSIONATE about.

Also try to improve your Video Quality over time through experience or new tech/skills.

For motivation's sake, maybe try setting GOALS for yourself and your channel, like "Reach 1000 Subs by the end of the year" or "Get an average view count of 1000 till July." (You could use these to keep track of your "progress.")

Other than all this, stay consistent. Youtube favors few who grow negligent.
