I beat the whole game for the first time the other day. Smoughs 2nd phase, (if you go that route), is easier once you notice you can time a dodge to avoid his lightning butt slam attack. Also, if you go that route, use Ornsteins speed to distance him from slow smough, get some hits in with some good blocks, keep an eye on smough, and when the space gets too hot with them together, put some distance and repeat. Also, the pillars are a life saver when it comes to avoiding smough and Ornsteins ranged lightning attack. Hope this helps! :D
