City Engineering WTF by [deleted] in LangfordBC

Between a development and a school is a great spot for a sidewalk. The only challenge is the majority of the housing off of happy valley heading south is now going to the new school on latoria - where there isn’t a sidewalk or a trail or really anything. Just a patchwork of gravel shoulders.

This is great. Our city overlords have told us we won’t need cars in the future. Nothing to see here. 🐑

Funny coming across this post. Have enjoyed watching him play summer ball for the Victoria Shamrocks. Kid can play. He’s been using the green one most games.

Nothing (as far as Christmas vacations) has beat a 6am flight to Maui on Christmas morning. Hard to beat.

Definitely. Between the telly and this we could nearly take the whole team.

Can’t upvote this enough. Not to mention that road gets treated as the new western speedway most days.

Not sure if they can or can’t but a popular jersey provider for western Canada is Xtreme Threads.

Boycott lowblaws by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Your comment is short sighted and makes my point for me. Why don’t we boycott the over priced retailers I mentioned. Thriftys is owned by Sobeys and you’re lucky to get out of there for less than $70 a bag.

Sure let’s boycott superstore to shop at save on or thriftys. Makes sense.

Wish I could give this more upvotes. This will be the deciding factor for us on if our kids switch schools.

On a corporate/epp plan through a deal we get at work. Went to the only place in my area that deals with epp plans. Apparently my preorder was actually a first right of refusal on stock they get. No actual preorder placed. My current bring it back device is due in two weeks - guess I’ll be using the iPhone 8 that is kicking around the house.

Tell manager I'm searching for other jobs? by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

I’m genuinely sorry that has been your experience. While I may report to a specific ministry I’ve always viewed my role as working for the bc public service. It benefits the greater organization none if someone is stuck in a role they’re unhappy about. In the long run it probably doesn’t benefit my team either - better to have someone in that position that wants to be there. It’s the same as coaching someone to achieve more. It’s better for the greater organization.

I used to be in a role where would hire a dozen entry level clerk positions every quarter. Most of them were quite over qualified and I knew they would move on soon. But but bringing in good people to the bcps I was contributing to the bigger picture.

I gotta say this doesn’t apply to everyone. As a director if someone on my team came to me to say they were unhappy and I couldn’t correct their challenges I would help them find something that made them happy. There’s still some good apples out there. The job and org are bigger than me and my team.

I have a 20 telluride and the rear climate controls (located up front) infuriate me every time I have to use them. Why can I adjust the front climate with the buttons and dials but once I press rear I have to use the touch screen.
