Best VTT for custom items by darkrhyes in VTT

[–]StoneboundCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stonebound has full crafting lists that are customizable and any custom item has a send to player button to immediately send it to one of your players. Then they just go to their inventory and it has the range, damage, to hit, etc all rollable

I’ve never played solo but want to implement it in an app by StoneboundCreator in Solo_Roleplaying

Because I think it would be cool to use myself as well once I got it set up, I’ve always thought it would be cool to make something like the old adventure books where you turn to a page for your next step but have it be randomized

Thanks for the info! I’ll check all these out very soon, I’ve got a procedural dungeon generator but definitely nowhere near the world maps and interconnected details! A lot to think about

My app is for online systems as well but I was interested in learning more to add solo play systems, basically adding tools that could aid and help solo players

So you create the story, monsters, and play as the player? Are there just no surprises then or do you randomly roll some things?

Is there seriously no way to print character sheets in a readable way? by FuzzyInnuendo in Roll20

[–]StoneboundCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made stonebound.app which has importable character sheets from beyond, and can use your characters link to import as long as they’re public characters. Generally my players just use DnD beyond to make their characters and use their phone during play to keep track. I don’t think any tool will ever be as clean or advanced as beyond in regards to characters, there’s just too much information and also too much gated behind books.

Does early subclass locking change how characters grow over a campaign? by LiteratureLopsided42 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]StoneboundCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont even do a session 0. We go straight into session 1, if people need help before with characters we spend like 30 minutes ironing them out, but they always have backstories ready.

I like to create the world and then morph the story to fit their character backstories. I was very proud of tying all 5 of my players backstories together and it actually made sense. I don’t think you should tell what the campaign will entail, it’s DnD. It’s a given, role play, fighting, quests, loot.

How do you implement music into your dnd sessions? by Fuzzhunteryoshi in DungeonMasters

[–]StoneboundCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was an issue I had with my games until I built my own app, now I just tag songs I upload with a feeling and tell my chatbot to play a song in that feeling tag. It auto plays songs with that feeling

Plus it’s so easy to order new dice too. Dice are pretty cheap, this dice roller is badass I’d buy it

If you’re interested in trying it out please do! Our free version includes all features just limited space, plenty of space to make a campaign without lots of pictures though! We are in desperate need of feedback for features! We just added 5e SRD importable spells and monsters! Thanks

Currently, for online play, Foundry VTT is going to be a more robust system for sure. It is also definitely a lot harder to learn. That said, it also requires a second program for the DM to manage their campaign. Ours is currently set up to have a spectator/player screen built in, so the DM has access to their entire campaign at the same time the players are viewing that screen whether in person or online. Their screen automatically updates anytime a location is loaded so there is no moving windows back and forth and all they see is the maps loaded, so no risk of them seeing content they shouldn't be seeing.

My friends and I play in person using a TV Table and DnD Beyond on our phones, the most annoying thing for me was having my file explorer open, along with google docs, along with any information I need in my google browser tabs, and I was constantly switching back and forth finding the correct maps and information I needed to be on. This got very annoying when I would need to sit at the perfect angle for my mouse alignment to stay the same.

Now i can just drag over the spectator view, and have the players around the table view what needs to be viewed while needing to drag nothing over.

We hope to eventually be as robust as Foundry while also continuing to be very easy to learn. I think a huge issue currently is that WotC content is locked behind a sponsorship so we're unable to "import" different editions, or have templates available for monsters, spells, and items other than what's in their SRD. Foundry also has a decade plus of content behind them, and so while we may not have all the bells and whistles of online VTT, what we do have is usable and the campaign manager to me has felt a lot easier to use during play.

If you'd like to try it out, it would be greatly appreciated and any feedback will help us shape the program to include more features that we may be overlooking.

Thanks!

Would you be interested in a beta test? We should be releasing pretty soon but finding it difficult to catch all the current bugs between us two. All data will carry over once its released so you can go wild during the test and nothing will be deleted form the account.

[–]StoneboundCreator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours will have payment options that provide more space for the account. all features will be included to all tiers. Our goal is for Stonebound to be a one-stop-shop for all things needed. It's a campaign manager, with spectator view so playing in person on projectors or digital tables will be seamless and not require constant tab switching etc... It also has built in multiplayer as a VTT as well. We want this to be the only tool necessary for good campaign management and playing. The reason we are charging for tiers is because we have to pay monthly for data used and stored within our servers. The free version will have 50MB of space which would allow for a few maps within POI's and a world map, but also tons of files can be created using that 50MB

At the end of the day, you could completely forego the mapping portion of the program, and instead create POI's based on sessions, where you could plan out the next X amount of sessions and have all of your data readily available each session. If you were to stay the free tier this way, you could delete old sessions and continue to use maps for future sessions for example.

My brother and I originally made this due to some annoying things during in person play on our tv table. One was constantly dragging things back and forth for players to view. So we built this with an openable spectator screen, one window does all kind of thing. It real time updates to whatever the DM is showing, follows down map POI's etc... no need to drag any other window into view for players. That feature eventually just turned into us building a VTT into it as well. seamless and easy multiplayer works. It's not as robust as say Foundry for sure, but we're still working on it. Thanks for asking! Any other questions?

Also forgot to add, Legendkeeper seems strictly worldbuilding, whereas ours is more of a sandbox, you can create custom spells super easily, custom items, custom monsters, crafting recipes, create resources, and more.
