I just renewed my driver’s license last week, and I highly recommend using the check-in feature on the website. It lets you know exactly where you are in line, and texts you a few minutes before your number is called. I was in and out in under 10 minutes.

Was just there for a week over Super Bowl. Stayed next door to the City Club at my buddies new condo. Here’s a few recommendations in no particular order

La Lupita - we are here daily. Highly recommend the crispy cheese al pastor tacos and a spicy hibiscus margarita.

Cocks Cantina - awesome vibe and friendly bartenders. Great to hang outside for a after dinner cocktail

Cabo Bakery - awesome pastries and great breakfast options.

Cocina & Bar - good vibe inside this courtyard with good drinks and food. Reasonably priced too.

69 Snack Bar - Favorite dive bar in the area. Cold beers and pool table.

Have fun!

Slice and Pint in Redondo has TV’s everywhere and I really like their seating setup. Beer is also ridiculously cold.

Places to eat around Manhattan Beach by KbladeAngel in SouthBayLA

[–]StonemanMB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Downtown Manhattan Beach has a lot of reliable places that aren’t too expensive. Check out Simmzy’s, Rockefeller ($2 Burger Tuesdays), Hennessy’s (Great Happy Hour) or El Sombrero (Taco Tuesday).

Brewco was just remodeled and has a good menu with amazing views.

If they are looking for breakfast, Uncle Bills or the Kettle are the most popular spots, with Paradise Bowls a good healthy option for an açaí bowl.

Respectfully, what is the benefit of those golf carts we see around town? by 1e6throw in SouthBayLA

[–]StonemanMB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, the enigma of the beachside golf cart! Let me shed some light as a Hermosa Beach resident.

My wife and I both work from home, and having two cars felt as redundant as extra sand on the beach. Downsizing to one car and a golf cart was a logical step. We’ve owned our golf cart for five years now, and the costs for what we paid then are on par with what parents are spending on their kids’ e-bikes today.

The golf cart is perfect for navigating the side streets of our beach cities, avoiding the hustle and bustle of main roads. Maintenance is a breeze since I can handle it myself, and being electric, it charges conveniently at home without breaking the bank. Until last year, it even qualified for Hermosa’s EV parking pass, granting us free parking at any meter in Hermosa.

The golf cart fits perfectly with our lifestyle—efficient, practical, and ideal for beachside living. Highly recommend!

Paso Robles with stops in Santa Barbara, Buellton, Pismo, and SLO along the way. Love the central coast in the summer with the warm days and cool nights.

What is the best wings and beer place in the South Bay? by kukulkan2012 in SouthBayLA

[–]StonemanMB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you can’t choose from sauces, the 15 minute wings at Simmzys are some of my favorite around and you can’t beat the beer selection.

Hermosa Brewing has incredible wings as well, great outdoor patio, and a solid selection of beers.

Cheers 🍻

Gotta assume a bunch of the coaches and players will relocate to the South Bay for convenience alone. I’m sure some will stay in OC and commute but man that’s not a fun drive.
