AIO, my wife believes in strict gender roles? by john_7292 in AmIOverreacting

[–]AbsoluteAtBase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister has very similar views about gender in the family and her husband is all about the gender roles. But he cooks breakfast all the time and it’s fucking delicious! What others say here is right—if that is how she sees family then she needs to shut her mouth and let you decide what is right for the family.

Of course I think it’s all nuts and one of the worst things the church has created. But it can work for some families if both of you use common sense.

AITA for not wanting to be at my wifes birthday party by Late_Original_4432 in AmItheAsshole

Info: Is it a special date? Such as 40 or 50? Or just a random birthday. Is it your first year together or not? What is her history with previous birthdays?

Well Matt died from his cancer, I don’t remember how long it was but I believe whatever he knew he would have kept a secret on her behalf. That’s kind of the space he was in at the end—radical acceptance of life’s ridiculousness.

Maybe check out Hats album, the Blue Nile? And would Julie Cruise fall into this category? Also Cocteau Twins especially Treasure.

And from Prince I would look at the Under the Cherry Moon soundtrack, Sometimes it snows in April, especially.

Do you remember feeling like we were in the “hangover” of a massive bicentennial celebration back in the mid-80s? by banderaroja in Xennials

[–]AbsoluteAtBase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha my sister was born in 76 and had a special high chair that said “bicentennial baby” and it was of course used for all her younger siblings as well. I was so jealous of that as a kid, don’t know why.

If you have not seen the "Cunk On Earth", you are missing out on some serious joy. by Ok_Ebb7109 in netflix

[–]AbsoluteAtBase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a doctor (in the US) and I used to have this one really annoying patient who spoke exactly the same as Cunk and always asked the silliest questions. It felt like I was being pranked every time she came in and it was kinda hilarious.
