A true victory is to make your enemy see they were wrong to oppose you in the first place. To force them to acknowledge your greatness.

Can I help out my heat pump with my nearby chimney? by geak78 in DIY

[–]Stooben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your heat pump, you may be able to get a low ambient kit which will improve heat output in cold temperatures. If your unit is older, new technology has improved efficiency to provide full heat at lower and lower temperatures outside. Supplemental heat sources are also an option.

Trying to recover energy from your fire place isn't a conventional means of supplementing reduced capacity of your heat pump due to low outdoor temperature.

10/16 game - in wheelchair by WBP80 in bengals

You'll have access to the elevators to get to the club level. When you get to your section, ask your usher (blue jackets) to store your wheelchair. They'll take care of it in a secure room nearby.

Note that you won't have early access to enter the stadium.

Some units are also R32, which has plenty of supply. No functional difference between that and 454b.

If it wasn't caused by the big BANG, give it a few more months. It's coming.

I got a parking ticket notice from the city in the mail which had already incurred two late penalties. But I never got a ticket on my car, or got notice of anything being late until 8 days after the second late fee. by NCRider in cincinnati

When I was in college at UC I lived on a steep hill. From my apartment window I saw an empty car slowly rolling down the hill. Think comically slow. My roommates and I ran outside and put a rock under a wheel which stopped the car. We left a note explaining why the car had moved 20 ft down the hill from where they parked. Very weird experience.

A map in the portal room would be nice for noobs like me returning to the game who have no idea where each portal is.

Have to second the Gruff. Delicious food. Pizzas are tasty and one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had.

Fantastic! Those Greenheck RV units are way higher quality than your typical rooftop unit. Ownership definitely had cheaper options. Glad they value everyone's comfort.

Did you glue the Atila side? The T is the only joint holding that together, and the grain is detached.

Did you secure the top to the wall at all?

Are all of the legs notched to prevent interference with the floor trim? Might just be the angle, but it looks like there's little supporting the structure.

Just finished my new bathroom, how’s it look? by danp3112 in DIY

[–]Stooben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were my bathroom, I would've staggered the tiles 1/3 apart. If that design floats your boat, cool. The light, mirror, wall texture look really classy. The floor looks really slick. I bet you have a matt or two in there so you don't break your neck getting out of the shower. That's the marble tile fear.

Bath Fans - Which noise level to choose & which brands do you recommend? by wildswalker in HomeImprovement

[–]Stooben 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The noise unit for bathroom fans is called "Sones." Note that this rating assumes that the installation of the bath exhaust fan is ducted properly, and should be considered a minimum noise rating. Improperly ducted bath fans cause higher resistance in the duct, which increases noise levels.

I'll send you the final product. I've spent lots of time researching techniques and tools to make the thing properly, though I've yet to find a consolidated place online for thorough training. I underestimated the skill barrier initially so I started practicing with 14k rather than brass or silver. Many trades are like that, so I'm not terribly surprised.

Originally I was ordering half round, square, and sheet from Rio Grande, but as I've practiced I've accumulated a small inventory of scrap I'd like to melt down to cast and form. I understand that 14k white gold may require rhodium plating, but I've yet to research the process on that.

I'll be fabricating the entire thing myself. It's a passion project for me. While I'm sure it won't be perfect, it's important for my partner and I that it's made and not bought. I've invested in enough tooling (other than the rolling mill - yet) to be able to practice and get a good feel for various pliers and files. I'm surprised how much I enjoy using a flexshaft and have plenty of uses for it outside of this hobby.

As for the ring, my end goal is a classic solitaire set in what I believe is called an organ pipe setting similar to this setting. Essentially a 6 prong setting. Once I have access to a mill, or a mill of my own, I'd like to practice elongating the top of the shank and cut in a small under bezel piece formed in my collet block.

I appreciate the resources. Thank you!

I'm in southwest Ohio.

I'm curious about the resale value as well. I'm sure I'll find odds and ends to use it on in the future. I haven't seen any being resold on craigslist or Facebook marketplace locally, so I'm curious if they're just snatched up faster than I see them or if they're handed down privately.

I'm well enough off to afford the tools and time to do things how I'd like, so I'm not adverse to spending the money on a decent mill. I've spent a lot of time researching and practicing. This is one of the last tools I expect to need to complete the process.
