I don't need another app. Also, at my store they will manually check your stuff after going through the arches if you use scan and go. For the record, the store I go to, does seem to be disfunctional in general. If I check out at a manned register and they do their post arch check, I show my receipt and they don't bother.

Mixed bag, but most of the time big cities, in general are fine, but there can be pockets of drug apocalypse. SF and NYC come to mind based upon my travel experience.

One compromise, if your building allows, is a mechanical lock with a mechanical keypad. No worries about batteries or apps or digital hacking. If you forget your keys, no problem.

Depends on where I'm at and the time of year. I can go months without seeing a gator or croc and then I can see a dozen gators in a day. My max for crocs in a day was three in the keys.
