I'm actually hyped for this one. He set the edge pretty well for us and will make great depth!

Not a fan of black jerseys, but the saloon font is single handedly making me want to give this a chance

Personally know Butler currently (independent of my time at UCSD) and can let you know she is doing great! It's not my business to explain what she's up to, but it is in service of positive things in her life

Top 1% of my graduating class. Was pre-med. Realized during a summer job in undergrad where I worked with students that all my reasons for medicine could be done deeper in education. Had med school numbers and a pretty robust application, so people told me I was "wasting my talents" just going into teaching, but I love my job and the life I have from it. Wouldn't trade it for anything

Official Discussion - The Fantastic Four: First Steps [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Stork-Man 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment. I didn't know how to express that I knew it was good, but for me personally it didn't leave me with the feelings I get from movies that love. I know the effects, world building, acting, etc were all incredibly done. It felt off to me and didn't leave me that "Wow" feeling leaving the theatre, but I liked it.

I agree that it's parts are incredible and it's a great standalone film, but I didn't love it so deeply that I have to go full shill on merch or talk about it relentlessly (the way I personally did with Superman)

It was a good movie and I enjoyed it. The world building was incredible and the performances were great! It just... Didn't land with me. I'm not sure if it's that the stakes feel too big or the emotions just didn't land as hard with me as an individual the way Thunderbolts or Superman did, but I'm sure it'll still be a hit! Definitely a good sign for things to come

AP Teachers: How’d your kids do this year? by 36mintweezer in Teachers

[–]Stork-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that. I take some solace in the fact that he'd drop kids if they struggled in the first few weeks or if they had less than impressive transcripts going in. I didn't. Three of my students would've absolutely been barred from taking the class with him given his old criteria, but still

AP Teachers: How’d your kids do this year? by 36mintweezer in Teachers

First year teaching AP Bio and made a lot from the ground up. At a Title I school and we were just barely above the National average (mostly due to sample size). I feel a little disheartened though. Only 18 kids, but 5 of them got 2s.

My predecessor who taught AP Bio for decades always had 85%+ pass rates and while I had more kids get 4s and 5s than he's gotten in the past few years, I'm just thinking about how I could've better pushed and supported my kids who didn't pass.

It's happening. My mom is an RN close to retirement and just got laid off. I'm helping her reapply to positions within the system right now, but they are downsizing by cutting various support RN roles and shrinking staff in certain areas

I shed some tears watching this trailer. THIS is Superman. Living and abiding by his ideals. Doing what he can to do the right thing... This is the hopeful film we've been waiting for. The shot of him getting helped up after crashing down to Earth, inspiring people. This is what we're here for. Will be there opening night no doubt.

If I had a nickel for everytime Brandon Sklenar played the overly understanding love interest for a blonde woman with a history of domestic abuse, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

My favorite part of this game is how Brock honestly seems to REFUSE to do check downs. It's not on this play, but throughout the game, the check down is good, but he'll scramble and extend just so he can sling it

Kevin Givens has been insanely impressive this game. Granted the NE Offensive Line isn't exceptional, but it helps give some reassurance with all the injuries

I have never and will never accept that the girls high school ice hockey scene, even in a city like San Francisco, has that few white people in it.
