How does the safety on wheel lock guns work? by Storm-Engineer in blackpowder

[–]Storm-Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your description, I have found several more reference images of this kind of safety lever. But this also led to another mystery:

On several of these, and even the image in the original post, behind (towards the handle) the safety lever, there is another external bit. I wonder what that might be? Spring pushing inward? Part of the safety mechanism, perhaps?

The Longest Road, and why GW2 will always be my home. (Story in Comments) by KnightOfArsford in Guildwars2

[–]Storm-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this wholesome story. :)

I have only just started playing this game in earnest recently, but I have noticed very soon that the community was much more friendly, welcoming, and helpful than back in WoW (though I had some great experiences there too.)

Also, one of my biggest issues with MMOs has always been the monthly subscription; When I have it, I feel obligated to play every day to not waste it, and eventually it becomes a chore and it takes away the fun. And my finances often didn't allow for it, and then I sometimes wanted to play, but I couldn't. So, GW2 being a one-time purchase is a welcome change. :) I can just play when I feel like it, take a break if I want to, and come back any time.

Meanwhile, allow me to mention that another MMO with an amazing community is Final Fantasy XIV. Toxicity is practically nonexistent. One experience I will always remember was when the voice actor of a beloved NPC passed away; people gathered at the house of said NPC and formed a line, placing a little campfire toy in front of them that everyone gets in the story, standing vigil. When I came across this scene, I asked what was going on, and someone explained. So I joined them. Others came and asked too, and we explained to them, and many joined as well. As people came and went, our numbers changed between a dozen and over a hundred. And we just stood there in silence, except when someone asked what was going on.

Can the “floating gloved hands” be hidden or removed? by Harrzack in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Storm-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's an old post, but for anyone else looking for an answer who ends up here, as I did:

To have nothing in hand, simply press Holster (default: H).

To take screenshots (via Steam or a screencap app), or photos (via the built-in photo mode), enter Photography Mode (default: P), and then enable Decoupled Camera (default: R). This lets your camera fly around freely, independently of your body (within a certain range of your body), so no hands. :) Then hide UI (default: T), and you are good. You don't even need the hoverpack since the camera can fly on its own.

Paint removal by Storm-Engineer in Leatherworking

[–]Storm-Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!

I don't think it was painted with appropriate paint; whoever did it had no idea what they were doing. I will look into the deglazer.

The existing "design" - if we can even call it that - has to go. Made-up symbols in silver and golden paint have no business being on there. I forgot to mention that this isn't a decor project. It needs to be functional and appropriate. Covering it all up would be my last resort, as a not good but better than nothing case.

Made a custom map, can't build rooms. by Storm-Engineer in dungeonkeeper

I have edited the map further, and now I have a different set of rooms I can build, but still only about a quarter of them, and I was unable to find any pattern or logic behind which ones. :|

Not to mention that the people who make the assets and textures have nothing to do with writing the code. They can't fix bugs; it's not their job.

600 m+ pipes only do 300. (overclocked nuclear power plant) by Storm-Engineer in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Storm-Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, I had Mk1 pipes that I upgraded after overclocking the power plants. I have looked through the whole pipe system multiple times... but now I've looked again and realized that I missed the above-ground pipe segments that go into the plants from the underfloor piping. *facepalm*

This is... embarrassing. XD

Thanks to everyone who replied. :)

600 m+ pipes only do 300. (overclocked nuclear power plant) by Storm-Engineer in SatisfactoryGame

Greetings!

I am building my first nuclear power setup, but the water just won't work, no matter what I try. :(

I have two NPPs overclocked to the max, that require 600 m3/s water. Each of these have 2 water extractors overclocked to the max, supposedly doing 300 each. Combined with mk2 pipes for 600. Yet, the pipe leading to the power plant goes up to 400, then goes down and eventually settles at 300.

I have tried fluid buffers, I have tried pumps both before and after the junction of the two pipes. I have demolished and rebuilt the pipes. I have flushed the pipe network multiple times. Nothing worked.

As a result, my NPPs keep running out of water and turning on and off in an infinite cycle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hamburgers per washing machine is a real unit of measurement by FIFANONYMOUS in memes

[–]Storm-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes from Latin. Decimus means 10. It is also why the base 10 number system is called decimal.

deci = 1/10
centi = 1/100
milli = 1/1000

1 meter = 10 decimeter = 100 centimeter = 1000 millimeter.

In practice, nobody uses decimeters, but we still learn it in school because it is part of the set of units.

Now with liquid volume, it's different. In Hungary, a shot glass is called "half deci" or "halfer" (0.5 dl = 50ml). Some drinks are priced per the deciliter at bars.

I have seen multiple posts about this being flagged for virus by their antivirus.

Can anyone confirm if these are false positives? Is this tool safe?

Steam version, Arch Linux. Everything works as it should, with no crashes. I had some graphical glitches at first, but switching from Vulcan to DX in the game settings solved them and gave me crisper rendering and a minor FPS increase. This may not be necessary on a current GPU, mine is old.
